I just finished re-watching Manhunter. I’ve always found it to be the superior movie to Red Dragon. The only other person I know that is familiar with both (an uncle) thinks Red Dragon is better. Red Dragon did benefit from the setup from Silence of the Lambs, whereas Manhunter stands on its own legs.

I just think that Mann is a better director than Ratner, understands character development better, and did a phenomenal job of showing the internal conflict within Graham, from his ability to think like a serial killer, and the fact that it causes him, at times, to empathize with them.

But more than just a comparison between these two films, IMHO, Manhunter is the best serial killer thriller ever made.

Thoughts?

I thought I'd give you a chance and see if you're less toxic when not posting about politics. I'm putting you back on the ignore list now.
