if he was concussed why was he on the bench?

I just worry that he is trying to play through it and not reporting if he had symptoms. You are right though that if he had a concussion that the training and/or coaching staff knew about he wouldn't have been on the bench though.

They talked about on the broadcast last night, and said that he could always serve a too many men penalty.

Plus, not trying to be a meatball, but I find it hard to say that they'd keep Toews in the locker room.

If he was suffering from a concussion I don't think they would risk him on the ice at all, even if it was to serve a penalty like too many men on the ice.

Don't know what broadcast that was, but in order to serve a too many men penalty he would have to be one of the 6 (or more) guys on the ice.

Based on what Dreger has said and being on the bench, I'm hopeful he plays.

On the NBC broadcast. I know they said he was on the bench for the reason that he could serve a penalty if need be.

I'm sure this comes off as meatballish, but **** it: I hope he plays through it. He has a few months to rest his head, he has one or two games left to win one last game for the Cup. He is getting paid millions to play a sporting event. I want him out on the ice, concussion or not.

And on a side note, the CBC feed showed him twice asking Coach Q if he could go out for a shift. He wants to play as badly as I want him to play.

Any other injury beside a concussion I would agree with. I know future chances at the cup aren't assured, but I don't want his career cut short by taking needless risk with something that is as unpredictable and dangerous as concussions.

Well at least you admit that what you typed is really, really stupid.

You do NOT put your 25-year old face of the franchise on the ice if his head isn't right. This kid has at least another 10 years of world-class hockey ahead of him. It's not worth it; not even in Game 6.

That being said, it's all going to be a moot point because all indications are the injury wasn't that severe.

ENough with the concussion crap. He never once showed any symptoms of a concussion while sitting on the bench. He was messing around with his neck a few times, so it's probably the neck.

This.

Look at the hit and his reaction after while on the bench since NBC pretty much dedicated a constant camera on him for the entire period. It he was concussed, they wouldn't have allowed him to sit in such a lighted area.

@MarkLazerus

Toews said Boychuk hit was one of the hits that took him out in Game 5, and that he wanted to return. Coaches being "cautious." #Blackhawks

Perhaps you are underrating Toews' toughness...the guy is so tough, he suffers a concussion and then sits in a lighted area!

Could be the Willis Reed moment of Stanley Cup Finals...

Toews doesn't get concussed, he mentally gives births to headaches, just to laugh at them.
