Before anyone shits, I'll start off with a "hey, don't take this too seriously". This is for fun.

But through the end of December... who's been the better player this season? Is it even possible to pick one over the other yet? And before anyone starts in.. this isn't a "who has more potential" or anything like that. It's who's been better so far this year.

Hossa is healthy and literally doing pretty much whatever he wants when he's on the ice. Not only can people not take him off the puck, he's taking opponents off the puck and just making them look silly on a regular basis. He's the hardest working guy on the ice every single shift and he makes anyone he plays with instantly better. This is the Hossa that the Hawks signed for 12 years.

And then there's Toews. He is the Blackhawks. He has the will and drive that very few professional athletes have. Do you ever doubt him? Has he ever let you down? When he was awarded a penalty shot tonight in a 1-0 game, did you have ANY doubt that he'd score on the shot? I didn't. I would have bet anything that he'd successfully put that puck five hole on Howard. He does it all while shouldering the weight of an entire team as the captain. His numbers, both offensively and defensively this year are at the top.

Who's been better this year? If it helps, think of it this way- who could this team simply not do without? Is it too close to call?

:dunno:

wow tough one

Hossa is such a monster with the puck and has been solid on a PP lacking production IMO

Toews is just a leader and continues to score goals when we need them

Im gonna just go with Toews since we are already thin at center and if he was injured we would be even more screwed

So glad we don't have to choose...I would probably take Toews if I had to choose because of playing center at such high level, but man that is a tough one.

I think Hossa has been doing the same thing he has done all three years with the Hawks. This time he hasn't had a major injury and he's getting the points that are making people notice him this year.

Before this year Hossa didn't get a ton of points like he has this season, but he was doing well with the puck and playing like a good two-way forward.

Toews has been a surprise and yet it's not surprising, if that makes sense. I did not expect him to have 21 goals on new years eve. Yet, I think that it's not surprising because Toews is one of those guys that can do whatever he puts his mind to. He's a great leader and he's having great chances this year.
