Tom Ricketts Working on Contract Extension with Crane Kenney |

According to David Kaplan, Tom Ricketts is working on a contract extension with Crane Kenney. David Kaplan had a one on one interview with owner/chairman Tom Ricketts. Mr. Ricketts told Kaplan; “Crane has done a great job of executing on the business side. There has been some stuff in the media (about Kenney) and that doesn’t apply to me. I don’t listen to that. He’s doing his job and he’s doing his job well and Cubs fans need to know that. I am working on a contract extension for him.”

Crane Kenney has never been a big baseball guy, but was in charge of Baseball and Business Operations before this season. However, The Cubs switch Kenney’s role to just President of Business Operations in awake of the Theo Epstein hiring. Theo Epstein is the President of Baseball Operations now. The move had to be made and was the right move. I know people wanted Kenney to be fired, but I say Theo and Ricketts made the right choice. If Theo had a say in the matter. I wouldn’t mind an extension because I have faith he will make the right Business decisions.

Mr. Ricketts is not afraid of using money and that’s what Cub fans like to hear. He’s doing an awesome job and showing why he was the right choice to take over for the Tribune Company. I guess we just have to wait and see what happens with Kenney’s extension.

That's cool.

Waldo, I'm going to recommend that you link the original Kaplan story or Tweet to your article on the front page. You can also post the link in this thread for those of us too lazy to use Google. Thanks.

No worries man. The front page people probably don't always come into the forum so a link there would be good though :)

It's usually a good idea to fire off a direct link to your source within the article just to give credit where credit is due. And it also preemptively takes care of all the "where'd you hear this from" and "where's the link" queries.

It won't happen.

Also, make your sig smaller.

Haha, I was joking.

And no, it takes up barely more space than the sidebar/profile-bar/whatever, so it barely lengthens the page anyway.
