So many to choose from for Halloween. I have never seen Trick R' Treat, the trailer looks awesome. Meanwhile, my top horror film still remains:

I never understood why the original Halloween was so highly acclaimed. Outside of Donald Pleasance, the acting was terrible

The Thing, loved the original w/Kurt Russell and they just released a re-make. Anyone seen it yet?. Also, the original Alien w/Sigourney Weaver is a good one.

The new one is actually a prequel. I read that the studio originally wanted to do a remake, but the director protested because he felt the original was already perfect.

The best horror movies that I can think of:

The Exorcist
Alien and Aliens
The Thing
Nightmare on Elm Street
Silence of the Lambs
The Shining

Horror movies usually have piss poor acting, this one did not. Someone spent a lot of time digging up this talent b/c every actress is believable. This movie scares you before the creatures even make their first appearance. The thought of being trapped a mile underground with no way out is chilling, then the added underground cave climbing scenes play on anyone with acrophobia. The characters are likeable, Juno is downright hot. Even the mutant creatures have some scientific credibility in a sense.

Also, I forgot to mention Jaws...the movie none of our parents would let us watch.

Yeah, the Descent is pretty good. I actually have it on Bluray. You're right about the 'being stuck in a cave' part. It's just as chilling as the other scary aspects of the film.

And the ending, don't want to give it away but the film takes an interesting twist with a pick ax. You could actually take the title descent and change it to dissent.
