True but in the cover 3, having a cb who can take that side away from the qb is huge. Granted, it starts and ends with pressure. Maybe it's similar, the 3tech and mlb in c2 vs olb & cb in c3. It's all about reducing the usable field.

In a 34, its OLB and DE as first tier priorities. Then you got MLB, Safety, CB. Good thing though is teams get more than one pic per draft!

Also true but including McManis, that's quality competition on the second tier which arguably has been the glue to our secondary not falling apart, especially given fuller's inconsistent play and us cutting a previous starter in Jennings. Under rated signings like these gives me faith in Pace.

Thats basically the whole D right now except for the rookies (who knows with them) and maybe McPhee. A whole unit of solid 2nd tier guys that usually aren't gon completely **** up but also aren't gon make big plays.

I think moving Fuller to safety is something the staff has to really consider. Rolle was 1st round CB who struggled there too. Moving to safety really helped his career. He seems like a guy who would help Fuller with that transition.

See how McManis does on the outside, probably no worse than Fuller has been. Play Ball at NB.

Isnt NT the top priority in a 3-4?

It sorta depends, but not really. NT can just be a guy. A big fat **** that that can eat up 2 gaps and doesn't get moved and can tackle off a block. Its a luxury for the NT to be a consistent penetrator. Best NTs in the game still only get 4-5 sacks per year.

Of course, if you got a top OLB, DE, and NT you gon **** some QBs up tho.

* corner back not playing so well or is too old should be moved to safety * seems to be a common theme among bear fans, despite the corner back.

Yeah, and Fuller strikes me as a guy that's just too small to play safety. ESPECIALLY strong safety.

You need someone that can take on a double team, but that isn't a key position that should take financial/cap resouces to fill. Getting someone that can beat a defender 1 on 1 and get to the QB is key. Those guys make everyone else better.
