Which TV should I get for the apartment that I'm moving into? I would put it in the living room.

You can get UHD tv's for pretty cheap right now. Don't be embarrassed about buying a Vizio tv, I've been buying them for years and have had no issues. Also if I can advise you on something, get one as big as you can possibly afford. A 46" tv might look big to you at first but once you get used to it it's not so big. I would go with a 60" or bigger if you can.

Dude you can get big ass 4K TVs nowadays for cheap. TV's have become quite a novelty item now. I think the only shit that is still expensive are the TVs that are pushing the bleeding edge on panel tech like 5K and 8K TVs. As is though, its already overkill to get a 4K TV since the content hasn't caught up with these new TVs so until cable/dish providers begin streaming their channels in 4K high def then its mostly pointless. Don't get caught up in the Sony / Microsoft hype over these revised PS4's and Xbox One's because those shits are going to be lucky to be able to push 30 FPS @ 4K. I should know. I paid out the ass to build a PC capable of pushing 4K @ close to 60 FPS and even that wasn't a consistent 60 FPS from one game to the next.

Can confirm on Vizio.

Have (basically) this model:

https://www.amazon.com/VIZIO-D50u-D...TF8&qid=1474415474&sr=1-1&keywords=vizio&th=1

Looks great, plenty of inputs and stuff. Unless you're going to do a really fancy home theater set up, I would imagine that TV would work for you.

The smart TV bit is pretty nice as well, works really well going directly from my phone (android based) right to the TV. For example, I find the movie I want to watch on Netflix on my phone then just send it straight to my TV. Really great for youtube and such as well.

Take viewing distance and interior cues into consideration. Brand doesn't realty mean too much nowadays--almost every TV is a smart TV nowadays, so pick your poison there. If you have a head unit that you're plugging into for surround, you might want to look into whether or not a similar brand will talk to it for "master control". If the TV is stand-alone your needs might be different than if it's used as a monitor for a Home-theater PC.

I have friends who have Vizio. They did it right: started as a cheap brand but put the money they made into R&D to become better.

Honestly, unless you are really into gaming, 3D content or other high end stuff, most of the TVs are going to suit your day to day needs. So as others have said, you should just figure out what your budget is and the biggest TV you can afford within the budget.

Personally I actually ended up getting a 3D projector (projects up to 100 inches) to save space in the living room as I live in a high rise condo with wall to ceiling windows. The projector basically drops down form the ceiling which means when not in use I have a clear view outside the window behind it and all the hookups are in the master bedroom closet as the wires running through the walls so it pretty much takes up zero space in the living room when not in use.

Which leads to the final point, you should really think about how your living room is set up and what you want and make sure you get a TV that fits your particular set up.

Vizio gets you good bang for the buck with size and features, but I've had a few issues with mine. I have a 2013 M series (with the 3d) and a 2014 m series and they both freeze up on me from time to time, where I have to physically unplug them to get them to work again. I've had to have a repair man fix the 2014 model once (under warranty) because the TV tuner stopped working. Also, the wifi occasionally doesn't connect and I have to restart the TV 3-4 times to get it to connect. That may be because I have a cheap router, though.

I'd only use the tv to play Fifa or hook it up to my Mac to watch movies

I saw a 50 inch lg and Sony for the same price; who's better?

There's a difference. Not just the fact both are 50". Compare the specs and you'll see what you're paying for.
