Sweet. I'm following him now. Hopefully Tyrus is more interesting than the other NBA people I follow: Mark Cuban, Chris Bosh, Jalen Rose, Tyson Chandler, etc.

I find the Mouthpiece Sports people and the Bulls.com blogger to be the best twitterers (besides myself).

What is the deal with this Twitter obsession? They are pushing this thing hardcore on ESPN/ABC/TNT. I find it stupid and it's rather annoying how often it's mentioned.

Re:Tyrus got a twitter

The difference between twitter and any one of a million blogging things is that twitter is designed for short meaningless posts.

It's almost as if we keep trying to condense and condense things in order to somehow make them faster, but there really isn't a point.

You could just have a blog with one sentence posts and that would be what twitter is.

What is Twitter?

And like others, what is so interesting about it? I don't understand. I'm only 27 yet I just can't seem to understand the point of it all.

Tyrus and I seem to have similar sleeping habits, sleeping early and waking up around 5 am. Haha..

Re:Tyrus got a twitter

The point of Twitter is to update people about something, and provide a simple platform to ask people questions and to get responses.

It is very annoying to hear professors class after class talking about how Twitter is the future of journalism. No it is not. People don't want to get their news in 140 characters. They might want to learn about a particular piece of news in 140 characters, and maybe get a link to read more, but Twitter will never suffice as a standalone form of journalism like a blog, newspaper, magazine, or newspaper's website can. (The twitter obsession, just one of the reasons why I plan on transferring out of this university).

Twitter is an easy way to communicate with people and a lot of athletes are getting them.

Check out Shaq's:
www.twitter.com/THE_REAL_SHAQ

He gives out tickets on his twitter for games and communicates with people. Kind of cool.

Might be something fun to check into every now and then. I personally don't have a Twitter.

Tell ‘Em Tyrus: Follow Me On Twitter

So, I finally got a Twitter. (Follow me! @t_time24.) It’s kind of cool actually. But I’m thinking about adding my own little twist to it. As you all know we are making a huge playoff push. On top of that, the weather should be about to break! Those two things will really have me showing my face more out in the city … Michigan Ave., baseball games and, of course, the Chicago Sky games, once they start.

Well here’s the twist. To be more active with my loyal fans that actually follow my career as well as my Twitter, I will start having “give away posts.” At any given time I’m out in the city, I may update my Twitter lettin’ you know exactly where I’m at and for how long. The first person to come to me and mention the Twitter will get whatever it is I’m giving away that day.

Gone,

Ty Thomas

Re:Tyrus got a twitter

I think the obsession with Twitter is that it's somewhat cool to say to your friends "Yeah, I just got a text from Tyrus". But if you have any mobile internet service on you're phone, I don't see why you just wouldn't use Facebook. Plus, some people use Twitter too much. I've got a limit of texts I can receive, so it's a bit useless to sign up for a bunch of accounts that are just going to push me closer to my limit. The only one I subscribe to now is a Bears (scout.com) one, and that will probably be the only one unless a worthwhile Bulls or Cubs one comes along.

Re:Tyrus got a twitter

How do you use twitter to receive updates on your phone? I know I can update my twitter from my phone, but I haven't seen anything to see twitter updates.

As far as Bulls twitters.

Tyrus Thomas has one. http://twitter.com/t_time24

I have my own: http://twitter.com/dabullz

Jillian Jesk runs the Mouthpiece Sports Bulls twitter http://twitter.com/MPSBulls
She has her own personal one as well.

Then you have the Official Chicago Bulls twitter. http://twitter.com/chicagobulls This is good. Blog updates for the Bulls.com articles, and sometimes there are twitter contests.

Then there are two former Bulls on there.

Tyson Chandler: http://twitter.com/tysonchandler
Jalen Rose: http://twitter.com/jalenrose

Then two potential Bulls:

Chris Bosh: http://twitter.com/chrisbosh
Amare Stoudemire: http://twitter.com/AmareStoudemire

and Mark Cuban's are interesting some of the time: http://twitter.com/mcuban

I forget my twitter password so I can't get in at the moment, but there should be somewhere on the website (personal information or something) that you enter your cell number. Once you give it to them, they make you text a certain number so they know it's your phone and you're not signing someone elses phone up for something they don't want.

Re:Tyrus got a twitter

It just depends on how the people you follow are using it. It's a great way for people without smartphones to be able to update their status online and it's nice to have Twitter to forward other people's "tweets" straight to my cell via SMS(text message). Twitter also allows you to turn off SMS updates for certain times... like while you're sleeping.

It's just small bits of info... someone like Doug might use Twitter to let people know his latest blog or podcast is up without people having to go to the forums... or if someone hadn't been by the website for a while, a quick way to just say... hey.. I just posted blah blah blah.

If you do have a smartphone, you can utilize something like twitpic.com to post pictures to your twitter by e-mailing a picture to twitpic which will route it to your twitter account.

To someone like me, it's quick and simple to keep up with people and shows.

idk the fact that he's an average basketball played that we traded LMA for.

Hey, at least he's average now!

He's showing improvements this year. His stats are somewhat legit for the first time in his career. And he worked like a beast this past summer, so with his athleticism and another summer of hard work, he may be on his path to being better than LaMarcus Aldridge.

He's actually already a better rebounder, shotblocker, and overall defender than Aldridge. And it's not like Aldridge is lighting the world on fire offensively with his 53.3 TS%.

Paxson may have may the right move in taking Thomas over Aldridge. However, the mistake might be passing on Brandon Roy, whose a superstar...but a far as the big men go, there is still a strong chance that Paxson took the right one.

first off, that was more sarcasm than anything else, but secondly, I dont see LMA as some world beater. dont get me wrong, he's solid. I'm just not sure that when its all said and done he'll be a better player than Ty. And maybe you can blame is lack of development on himself, but their are many other factors, as im sure you know.
