no Bobby Ryan or Ben Bishop is a crime.

Snubs, including Ryan and Bishop:

http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2014/01/01/sochi-snubs-ryan-heads-list-of-u-s-olympic-omissions/

"Ottawa forward Bobby Ryan, a silver medalist with Team USA at the 2010 games in Vancouver, and a pair of defensemen — ’10 silver medalists Jack Johnson and Erik Johnson – were all left off the list along with Kyle Okposo, the NHL’s second-leading American scorer this season, and Dustin Byfuglien, the leading American d-man scorer."

"Tampa Bay’s Ben Bishop, who has the best stats of any American goalie this season, was bypassed in favor of Jonathan Quick, Ryan Miller and Jimmy Howard."

Saad's got plenty more Olympic appearances in his future. Disappointed but not surprised he didn't get named.

Bobby Ryan's omission was really strange. Seemed like a lock, to me.

Very worried about this team's defense.

Team is young on the back end. The good thing is suter is there to eat up 30 minutes. I love Max P on the team. I would love to see him play with Kane. Wheeler was a surprise for me along with the Johnson's being left off. Hopefully this puck moving D pays off

Yeah, if you haven't read this already, you should. It's incredibly wrong but you can skim through it quicker. There's a lot of real good insight about why specific players made/didn't make the team. Was particularly interesting to see just how close Brandon Saad was to being on the team. I also don't consider this a total surprise, but Nick Leddy's name never even came up in their discussions.

I'm a bit thrown off. I've never really cared to think of team USA winning or not. I guess that's a normal approach but it's not a bad team.

Gotta remember it's not NHL rinks these guys are setting up for.

I just don't see them taking the gold with current roster imo

A huge plus is some of the 2 way forwards that made the team, they could help out tremendously.

The worst part is knowing that some of the best Blackhawks will be playing against Team USA. Toews and Keith, in particular, scare the crap out of me.

Agreed. The fact that Patrick Sharp may not even be on Team Canada shows how much deeper they are going to be.

Howard injured again last night. Depending on how serious, it leaves the door open for Bishop - who has supposedly been told that he would be the next in line if there is an injury.

Talent wise they don't stack up to Canada, but that's the case every Olympics. Good teamwork is way more important on this stage and why the Finns always do better than they should and the Russians worse than they should.

I don't know, I love Olympic hockey and will watch every bit I can.

Me too, man. Love watching the Hawks but also can't wait for Olympic hockey.
