Interviewed for a new job today...Got it...very similar to what I'm doing now, only they take 95% of the headache out...and pay more...and give me better hours.

Also, they are sending me to Denver in a month....So...anyone ever been?

well first off congrats..

denver.. never been there

Thanks bro! it's pretty exciting...pretty much hated the one I'm finishing up now...but just b/c of massive failure on part of the supervisors...just not prepared for the job and not use to being in a supervisory role...

Denver? Yessir...excited about it.

Congrats dude!

My dad says Denver is a nice place. My friends have had some friends go to Denver for jobs as well...They love it. That's really all I know. I've never been, but would like to some day.

What do you do for a living?

Well, the job I'm finishing up now was very similar to social work...only, I was similar to a social workers *****. deadlines that were unattainable, crazy hours, and our paperwork reg's changed every 2 weeks. Main duty was to waltz into homes where families don't necessarily want me, in order to teach them the skills needed to keep their family intact.

New job more or less allows me to compile all the information from those cases and others, create massive spreadsheets over the data, and my supervisors will take the compiled info to washington in order to make sure we can continue w/ a new grant in August 2012, when our current grant reaches maturation.

There's also some teaching involved, where parents willingly come to seminars (mainly to leave w/ the freebies), and there's other misc. tasks I'll be asked to do.

Essentially, a promotion...

I've been to Denver, but I dunno what to share with you about the place. Have yourself some rocky mountain oysters while you're there!

Colorado?? Well... Congrats to not being a social workers ***** anymore :). Avoid South Park, be sure to say bye to Orton for the 2nd time, and visit the Rockies! And anyone suggests to sightsee Donners pass, take spices and a knife and when they ask why, be sure to specify it'll be needed incase you have to turn em into jerky if yous get trapped :)

Denver's not so bad...just got here today. Air is very clean. Bulls have looked a lot better since I've turned them on -- I'm sure it's the Denver air that's helping them win.

I lived out there about 15 years ago, before moving to St. Paul, MN, and then Iowa to be closer to family.

Pros: About 300 days of sunshine a year, mountains nearby (which is my favorite thing to do in the universe, so it was great), lots of cool places to eat, fun stuff to do, and Coors Field is awesome.

Cons: The air quality was REALLY bad somedays - being huddled up against the mountains and having the population explode the last couple of decades and increase development has not been a necessarily good thing. I remember coming home from work on I-25 one day, and I had to turn off the air vent in my car, because I literally felt like I was breathing poisonous fumes that were burning my throat. My view of the mountains from the office was amazing in the morning, and almost non-existent in the afternoon with all the yellowish haze.

Considering all that, I would live there again in a hearbeat, I'd just live a little closer to Boulder or on the edges of town to avoid that (sometimes) bad air. Colorado is my favorite place to be in the world because of the abundance of outdoor activities that I enjoy. Good luck out there!

I've visited the Denver area and I liked it. Are you from the Chicago area? It took me a bit to get used to all the wide open spaces around there. They have a really strong micro-brew industry and plenty of outdoor activities. Just DO NOT get drunk until you've been there awhile. I was visiting and a guy who called himself Fast Eddie bought me shots my first night. I paid for it big time.
