Rams gave up a first for Brandin Cooks then signed him to a giant extension. I could see a scenario where Floyd keeps getting better through next year and the Bears find themselves in a spot where they can trade him for a 2020 1st.

And??? That’s a totally different player and a totally different position lol. How are you even making that comparison??

Lol Cooks had 3 1,000 yard seasons when Rams traded for him. Floyd has yet to get a single 10 sack season.

Cooks was also 24 turning 25 when traded. Floyd will be 27 turning 28 in 2020.

Bears fans are vastly overrating their own players.

So if a guy has 12 sacks but a coach starts the guy with 7 then you going to assume coach knows best?

The stats are such that Floyd and Lynch are similar players. It is what it is.

No Way they are similar players and stats dont tell everything. Floyd is an athletic freak and can can cover, lynch is a big stiff.

Gotta sign your own guys when they earn it. Bears know that too. He will get a big contract.

PS. Unless your the Raiders.

Looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane for most of the year. He is a role player. Funny thing is he ran 4.6 at his combine and Lynch ran 4.64 at his pro day.

Floyd has not earned 15 million a year. GTFOH. The Pats model was to pay stars and replace role players. Pitt does the same. Nothing in Floyd's game suggests he is a star. Save that money for Mack, Hicks, Jackson, Trubs (if he is franchise QB), etc. You don't pay role players big money.

Exactly! EDGE is considerd the second most important position on the field, if anything Floyd (who has looked every bit as good at OLB as Cooks has at WR) should fetch more than Brandin Cooks. I agree, even this comparison fails to really capture Floyd's total value.

Yes that is fair to say he has questionable character but just using him to say finding a complementary piece for Mack is not that difficult and spending 15 million on a complementary player is bad business.

This is Fuller all over again IMO. Dont pick up the option and if he blows up then you can franchise or transition tag him for similar money. Paying a 28 year old 15 million when he has yet to crack 8 sacks is just odd.

Uh the Texans are about to franchise tag "complimentary" player Jadeveon Clowney and it is 100% the right move. You are in the clouds dude.

Floyd has not looked every bit as good as Cooks. Again, if we say 1,000 yards is the benchmark for a WR and 10 sacks for OLB/DE, Cooks got traded 3 years younger and with 3 1,000 yard seasons. Floyd has yet to hit 10 sacks and again trading for a 24 year old turning 25 is much different than trading for a 27 year old turning 28. The former is entering his prime while the latter is about to leave his.

You say that as if the Texans are a model franchise or something. I mean Clowney has better stats than Floyd but not sure he is quite worth the franchise tag although again he is younger than Floyd. Can't be overstated enough that Floyd is old for a guy on his rookie contract. Expecting him to suddenly blow up at 28 is odd.
