Using my TV as my monitor, need help with settings.

So I set up my desktop that I built years ago (still kicks ass) but I don't have a monitor so I'm using my TV as one. (27 inches I think).

But it looks kind of choppy. Like the text and everything isn't full or looks "grainy". I fucked with the Nvidia Control Panel and it still isn't that good.

Everything seems too bright as well. Dark reds come out very light.

Like for instance, I can't even tell that is a hyperlink above.

Screenshot looks fine. Nobody will see the issues, because it captures the picture the way it should look. Not the way you are seeing it. You're going to need to tune the TV(from the TV's menu, not from your computer) with a gray scale and color chart.

Then you can tweak it within windows/nvidia control panel. But until the TV settings are right, doing it through the computer is counterproductive.

Putz...a screenshot won't help at all. That's like taking a screenshot on your broken cell phone and asking us if we can see the cracks in the screen; the image that we're seeing isn't being processed by your TV (where the issue is) so it looks completely normal to us.

Basically what Crystallis said. Plus, ensure that your computer is outputting to your TV's native resolution.

Sorry, had to go with the DURP! suggestion as well. There are people out there who would force 1080p on a 720p screen.

I have had 1080p TVs look like absolute shit when connected to a computer while other 1080p TVs looked nice and sharp. I can't help but think its a lot to do with the panel's pixel density, contrast ratio and perhaps other factors like the color balancing.

my TV has the worst settings ever lol. Like they're mostly all presets. no real customization. can't really change much. I read that dynamic contrast can cause this but my tv only has one contrast setting

yep mines 1080p. Using a mini-HDMI to standard HDMI. (dont know why my GPU only supports mini HDMI)

Also, I may just deal with it. Using this as a way to stream on twitch, so if I'm recording my screen, the people watching will see it fine right, just not me?

Yeah, the output you're giving to twitch is going to look better to the viewers than what you're seeing on the TV.

turning my sharpness to 0 on my TV fixed every issue lmao. that was easy.

also tweaked the brightness/contrast on Nvidia CP because the white's were too bright.

thanks for the suggestions and help guys! appreciate it

NEW PROBLEM: My audio from my TV seems to not work after I **** with display settings.

I searched online and found that to just select my tv as default option. i've done that and it doesnt work.

I found another method that works sometimes then when i **** with display it reverts.

The method is set to default, go to properties, disable it and somehow it works. (pics)

but now not even that is working.
