They still have work to do before officially clinching a playoff spot, but the Bulls have begun to practice postseason intensity.

"They (the team's veterans) are yelling a little bit more," guard Derrick Rose said following Monday's practice at the Berto Center. "Brad (Miller), he yells a lot.

"In the Indiana game (last week), I think I let T.J. (Ford) to get a layup and they were telling me to foul him like it was in the playoffs. But this is the first time I'm in that situation. Playoffs, I guess, are totally different."

When Charlotte lost in Detroit on Sunday, the Bulls' magic number for clinching a playoff berth dropped to 3. If they take care of business at home, where they've won 11 of the last 12 games, the Bulls will have no problems.

"I wouldn't want to play us in the playoffs," forward John Salmons said. "I think we've got a good enough team to compete with anybody. So I'm excited about it."

All of the Bulls' regulars have playoff experience except Rose and Joakim Noah. The postseason has been very kind to Rose lately. During the past three years, he won two Illinois high school state championships with Simeon and carried Memphis to the NCAA title game before losing in overtime to Kansas.

"I just want to win," Rose said. "That's what it's all about, doing anything to help your team win. That's the only thing I think about when I go into the playoffs or when I went into the tournament last year."

Since arriving from Sacramento in a Feb. 18 trade, Salmons has quickly learned to appreciate playing at the United Center, where the Bulls play four of their final five games.

"It's a tough place to play," he said. "Since I've been in the league, I don't know how many wins I got at the United Center. The fans are pretty good. I think those rims, you've got to get used to shooting on. They're not really shooters' rims. I think we've got a pretty good homecourt advantage."

Brad needs to cut that out, no one should be yelling at our boy Rose. I hope Hunter is in Roses ear telling him how the playoffs are.

I disagree, Rose needs a dozen guys on his ass talking to him about defense.

Nice to see Brad rubbing off on his teammates though. Noah has been complimenting him at every chance possible, and has even pointed out two different times he's scored that were apparently the result of something Brad taught him (one was a fake handoff and drive off of the inbounds, and the other one slips my mind). Nothing against Gooden, but you can tell his "knowledge" didn't rub off on guys the way it does with Brad.

Why should Brad cut it out?

Rose is a grow as man, I'm sure he's had coaches throughout his career yelling at him, and it's not like its Gray yelling at him, it's Brad who has had a good career and is a veteran. Plus, he is right - you don't give up easily lay ups, especially in the play offs. Rose does have a bad habit of letting people by when they get to the rim, he'll pretend to take a charge or he'll just concede and allow them to lay it in, I don't think I've ever seen him just grab a player or foul him hard and make them earn it at the line.

He needs to get much tougher, and if it means Brad has to yell at him, then so be it.

It was probably because he none.

One thing Drew lacked was basketball IQ, and I'm sure his team mates realised this also.

I know, hence the quotations I used around "knowledge" B)

Thats why I was shocked the Spurs were interested in him.

When you're that good, then you can afford to take those kind of chances. He'd be fine when the team can afford to use him as a small luxury, but he's not alright if your team was fully depending on him like we were.

Yeah, Drew coming off the bench to spell guys and provide some offense isn't a bad fit. Plus maybe he can keep totally focused on the game playing for shorter stints?

Gooden's awfully good as a role player. When he's your #1 big man is where you run into problems.

I agree but I don't want him getting in foul trouble by fouling everyone who gets by him. Although raising the intensity is a good thing.

Drew is an excellent big off the bench, he can score, rebound and brings some toughness. He can give you a lot of good minutes off the bench but I just don't trust him in the key minutes. Unfortunately he sees himself as a starter and that is the downfal because he would be good for a lot of teams for the MLE off the bench.

The thing with Brad Miller is he's a guy who has to think the game because he's just not got the athleticism. So he's been able to succeed in the league because he out thinks the other team. If you combine that kind of savvy with the athleticism of Tyrus or Noah you've got one hell of a player.

That might be one of the reasons why role players often make good coaches. They didn't have the talent to just get by in the league on talent, they had to really learn the game in order to succeed. Of all the big men in the league, Brad Miller moght be my #1 choice of a guy to mentor Tyrus and Noah. Can't think of any other big man who seems to understand the game better.

I'm loving the fact that there's playoff intensity in practice already. I don't think that would have been the case with Nocioni, Hughes and Gooden. I love having a few veterans who can really step up the intensity and challenge our youngsters.

Same with me. I am so glad to have guys like Brad Miller and John Salmons - who can lead by example and I think they will show everyone (if not already) that why this trade was run away good and IMO, they will help us tremendously - not only win a game or two but we will be ton competitive.

With Salmons, we have got a LEGIT 20ppg scorer (before that we only have Rose and Gordon), and you can tell we are scoring a lot more and more efficiently and they all compliment each other very well.

With Miller, both Noah and Tyrus look good and are learning a thing or two and Miller gives a nice dimention and a change when Noah sits and teams have to adjust to.

Like Salmons said, "I wouldn't want to play us in the 1st round".

Teams don't match the title.

I like the Sabres in 6 or 7
