Ridley Scott isn't doing Bladerunner 2049, a much better director is. The same guy who just did Arrival.

This is all subjective, but IMO no one on CCS is more consistently wrong about everything than you.

Alien
Blade Runner
Thelma & Louise
Gladiator
Black Hawk Down
American Gangster
The Martian

I liked Arrival, but can anyone name another film directed by Denis Villeneuve, without looking it up?

Didn't he also do Prometheus....
I know some didn't like it but I did.

Oh and Hannibal... which I also enjoyed.

Prisoners, Enemy, and Sicario.

I liked Enemy. Odd film, and more of an offbeat like for me. Prisoners was excruciatingly bad, and overdone. Sicario was over done, and a bit boring. I am ahuge Blade Runner fan, but I have not liked anything by Scott since Alien and Blade Runner.

Villeneuve is an okay director, but not great. Just something not quite right. I think it is because he is Canadian. I don't have big hopes for the new Blade Runner.

Anyone worth having this conversation with.

Villeneuve's last 5 films have averaged 87% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Ridley Scott's last 5 have averaged 59%.

Also, if you wanted to get into the intricacies (which I have no desire to do with you), unlike Ridley, Dennis works with Roger Deakins, arguably the best cinematographer of the last 30 years. Look what he's done since the 90s:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roger_Deakins#Filmography

I'll take Denis and Roger over Ridley and ___ any day of the week. I stand by what I said.

Of course you will, you stand by all your statements regardless of how stupid they are.

"Ridley Scott's last 5 have averaged 59%." Sure, just ignore the the other 35 films to fit your narrative.

Let me know the next time Denis Villeneuve makes anything as good as Blade Runner, Black Hawk Down, or Alien, because it will be the first.

I don't agree with you on how amazing Fear The Walking dead is, I think your taste in entertainment sucks, you like things that suck. To each his own, right.

I loved Sicario, and liked Velleneuve's other films, but Ridley Scott is responsible for some of the best films ever. Prometheus was a pretty movie with an awful script, and I've disliked some of his other movies. But I'm sorry, if Scott's resume was only Blade Runner, Alien and a bunch of Steven Segal movies he'd still be one of the best directors around.

Maybe he's lost his fastball, I think you could make that argument, the man made arguably the best scifi movie ever and unarguably the best scifi horror movie ever.

Didn't dawn on me that Ridley Scott directed The Martian. Read the book, and was one of the few Matt Damon movies I can stomach. Great job, I'd say best sci-fi adaptation in the last 5 years, easily.

I added Bladerunner, Alien, Thelma and Louise, Gladiator, Black Hawk Down, and American Gangster and his average raised to a whooping 72%. Now imagine if I threw in the rest of his movies, the ones you didn't mention because they weren't his best, you think the average goes up or down? (that's a rhetorical question, of course)

I can't create a cogent argument as to why Ridley should be directing the new Blade Runner over Dennis, so I know you can't.

Dragon Ball Z>>>>>The Walking Dead

It's subjective. I think you are a total mess on entertainment. I also think that in 30 years we can compare the films of Ridley Scott with the films of Denis Villeneuve. As of right now it is not even a contest, Ridley Scott is a master, Denis Villeneuve isn't even in the team photo.

You are a hipster chump, your opinions on media are irrelevant. Now go watch Fear The Walking Dead.

I wouldn't even be able to put him in the top 10 just since his career started. Playing it safe, these guys have easily had better careers:

Scorsese
Speilberg
Coen Brothers
Nolan
Linklater
Mike Leigh

And his last 5 movies are collective trash. Again, 59% on RT. So I'm not sure in what world he could be considered one of the best around.

You're right, Ridley Scott has a 30 year head start and for all we know Dennis's prime is still ahead of him. If he continues at this rate, when it comes to quantity of quality films, he will have completely trounced Ridley Scott :lmao:
