I would like to have seen him here. He wasn't that expensive and he has the ability to get hot, stay hot, and carry a team.
There's something about Crawford that just doesn't excite me. Believe it or not, as big of a head case as he is, I think that though Crawford might be more steady every day, Emery can flash brilliance and carry a team. Niemi could do it. Khabi could do it.
Very few guys are consistently solid AND brilliant for stretches. We're talking about guys like Brodeur, Belfour, Roy, Rinne, et al. You generally have to settle for one or the other. I'll take "occasionally shaky and gets pulled after giving up 4 through 1 with the ability to go 7 periods without allowing a goal during a 9 game win streak" over "gives up two every night but that's all" because the former are the guys who win Cups.
I think Vokoun can be that first type guy...
