By Phil Rosenthal
No less than a half dozen Chicago broadcast TV stations, as it turns out, will be able to claim it's the home of Bears football this coming season.
WCIU-Ch. 26, WLS-Ch. 7, WGN-Ch. 9, WFLD-Ch. 32, WBBM-Ch. 2 and WMAQ-Ch. 5 are all getting in on the fun, which has to be some kind of record.
Weigel Broadcasting's WCIU is the latest to get its hands on a piece of the city's most popular sports team and TV draws, announcing Monday it has acquired over-the-air simulcast rights to ESPN's cable telecast of the Bears' game against visiting rival Green Bay set for 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 27.
Typically, ESPN's coverage of Bears games is simulcast by WLS, which, like ESPN, is owned by the Walt Disney Co. But WLS worked out a deal with WCIU to let Channel 26 carry the prime-time Packers game so that Channel 7 can air a live edition of ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" set for that night.
