I don't know if I'm alone on this one but I would have happily traded what the Colts did for Carson Wentz, they now have a QB that could have a bounceback season and take the Colts on a deep playoff run and the Bears have Nick Foles and a Free agent Trubisky they will likely resign.

Wentz would be easily have the best ceiling of any Bears QB ever and with a few Offensive Lineman and Wide Receiver signings could have had us in the conversation for the division and the NFC.

For a 2nd and 3rd rounder, where the 2nd becomes a first if he plays 75% of the snaps I would absolutely take that trade. Now where are behind where we were 8-9 this past season. Time to raise the bar, if we draft a QB it should be Mac Jones.

its very possible that while in the public eye, mccaskey has told pace he has full authority to do whatever it takes to improve the qb spot, the reality is pace likely needs consent from upper management to mortgage future picks for a qb...If i'm ownership i'd veto that deal too...wentz needs a strong oline to thrive assuming he can return to form, also his questionable leadership skills/diva personality also doesnt bode well for nagy who has more than likely heard plenty from his buddy pederson. If i'm ownership the only qb i'd allow mortgaging the future for is watson.

its not a good decision to trade form someone who doesnt want to play for your organization. Clearly that was the case and likely why Pace did not make an offer.

Not necessarily as you would assume you could turn him though it would be worrisome. That said, the reports about him not wanting to come here were as reliable as what Pace offered to get him.

Wouldn’t he have just chosen The Colts anyway if we offered the same?

The Bears would have had to offer their first this year and probably a 3rd next year to get the Eagles to prefer their offer. Then Wentz needs to be convinced to come here? No thanks, if he isn’t all in no sense in doing it, he is clearly a risk even if he was excited for the move. A Luke warm version? Sounds like disaster to me.

Wentz didn't want to come here. /end thread

That is my view on the subject. If you are Wentz you are WAY WAY more happy to go to the Colts than the Bears, and I believe he had a say in the matter if I am not mistaken.

That being said, I hope he does well with the Colts (that would make my wife very happy) but I think we need to try again in the draft over and over until we get it right.
