I agree, but they should also know that talking shit is going to get your teeth knocked out. Does anyone know if there is some passage in the bible that says something to the affect of "words of spite, will get your ass handed to you" or somethign even more biblical then that?

Well... in another thread we had people supporting the police for violently enforcing a "no dancing" law - but they're not supposed to do their job when someone's getting assaulted?



Not disagreeing with the fact that they deserved it... just sayin'- if the authorities are expected to do their job in insignificant matters (like dancing in a public monument), how can we NOT expect them to do it when assault is being committed... even if it is to a hateful, bigoted and unpopular group?



And these days - with cell phone cameras, all it would have taken is one person recording the situation and Westboro's legal team would've been all over that like a fat kid on cake...

They werent enforcing a no dancing law, they were enforcing a no demonstration/rally with out a permit law. And seems to me they did their job there in the article, if I am not mistaken in the article it says the police questioned many members of the crowd.....i cant help it no one remembers what happened or didnt see anything. Seems to me that happens all the time in other cities all the time and it involves much more heinous crimes,.

Perhaps this is the only way certain people learn.

It's unfortunate, but they threw the gauntlet down by exercising their use of free speech in the manner they chose.

If I held a sign outside a random church stating "god is a ***, and everyone who enters to worship him sucks his **** and the cum is the holy spirit--swallow it" I better get ready for some random violence to be bestowed on my face for my choice of words.

It is an extreme analogy, but fitting none the less. Welcome to the human race where we would like to be peaceful but all too often resort to violence. It is our nature.



These people have been asked nicely, they have been told by law, and they have been threatened. They still don't get it. Last step is for one of them to get physically assaulted.



In this situation though, a group of holier than thou's did not travel to Kansas to physically assault the holierer than thou's. One of the WBB people went to someone else's neighborhood, talked shit, and that individual that was being verbally assaulted physically lashed out. The onlookers just 'pleaded the fifth', if you will. That is well within their rights. The cops can't prosecute an assault if there are no witnesses to connect the accused to the crime.
