I've only bought Shopvacs. My 5HP 2 year old burned out, made me wonder if ShopVac is more of a name now with dwindling quality since this is my 3rd Shopvac to die out so quick, after having one that lasted 15 years.

Anyone have experience with other brands? I see there are a handful of highly suggested wet/dry vacs. I pretty much just use it in the garage for car stuff, carpentry, and the occasional grill cleaning.

Mine just broke as well. Imma find out what the chimney sweep bros use and get one of those.

Would a wet/dry vac be able to fix the Beliefs and Ideology forum for me cause that jackass, Crystallas, sure won't?

They're definitely not built like they used to be. Hell, my Kirby took a shit on me 2 years after I finished paying it off. Even doing the normal $30 belt replacements every other month didn't prevent it from impending doom. Another reason I'm glad my home is all tile, just sweep and mop every other day.

I got the size down from that 4 or 5 years ago on Black Friday for like $40. I don’t use it a whole lot but haven’t had any problems with it.

I'm hoping for good luck. I use mine any time I work in the garage. Just super handy. I had to replace a sump pump, and I like to clear the well out and make sure there's nothing out of the ordinary seeping in. That's when mine broke the last time. Maybe these are more durable. The sump well had about a foot of clear water, nothing even a little a 2hp shopvac shouldn't be able to handle, let alone the 6hp one I had. But go figure, just poof, died without warning.

That’s with almost anything anymore. Nothing is built to last so you have to keep replacing them and spending more money. It also seems like a lot of things are built so you can’t open them up and fix them yourself anymore either.

I had a small desk fan that crapped out on me last year. All molded plastic so I couldn’t even take it apart. Had to buy a new one. Yet I have small box fan at home that I’ve had since I was a kid. It’s at least 30 years old and still works today.

I can't count the number of household vacuums I've bought in the last 10 years because none of them ever seem to last more than a year or 2.
