We knew that this team was not going to be fixed with 1 draft or 1 free agency period. What are the major weaknesses that still exist on the Bears and is there a roster option that could fill it?

1. S

Roster Option: Even if Amos steps up, and he is probably the best chance of a roster option, the Bears still need someone down the line.

2. MLB

Roster Option: Bostic and Jones need to step up beside Foster, but even Foster is not an elite player. This could be a huge need moving forward if Bostic cannot get healthy and improve.

3. OT

Roster Option: Fingers crossed on Fabujule or Cornick either taking the job from Mills or getting him to play better. But the Bears are going to need to address OT as Bushrod declines as well.

4. OLB

Roster Option: The Bears do not have a true pass rusher on the roster and I think the only 2 guys that have a chance of developing into that are a healthy Willie Young or perhaps David Bass.

5. CB

Roster Option: Ball and Jennings could be gone in 2016 and there is not much in terms of a potential starter beside Fuller. This could be a need that moves way up the list in 2016.

NON-QB Needs, we all know QB is on the list.

OLB is wait and see for sure. McPhee is a pass rusher and with starter duties, we have to see if his production level is the same. If it is, he is going to be a probowl level OLB.

Strong Safety is a big need. We have no one other than Mundy.

I think Safety and Corner is our biggest weakness. RT is the third biggest weakness in my opinion

And who the hell are we putting at DE in the 3-4? Ratliff will probably get some time there, and maybe Sutton/Ferguson? Am I missing anyone?

Weakness or get ready to replace or improve at:

5-technique

OLB

ILB

CB

S

On offense:

QB The Bears are moving on after this year

RB Not likely the Bears can afford to keep Forte

TE Need a backup may have to prepare to move on from Bennett

LT. Bushrod is getting up in age and could regress in a big way hope he hangs for three more years.

RT. Mills

Return game

So 11 more positions to upgrade and or replace.

I'm crossing my fingers on Amos. With everything I've read on him, how did he last until the 5th? I guess his biggest knock is how he plays the run as a FS. How does he fit in that sense with Fangio's defense?

I would say ILB is a big need for us. We need a RT. We need another CB. I think we have some pass rushers that could fill that OLB role. I guess we'll see how Willie Young plays as an OLB after coming back from an injury. And we'll see how McPhee plays with a larger role on defense here in Chicago.

I am worried about the O-line as a whole. It's average with a starter returning from injury. A RT who badly underperformed last season. An average LT. Journey man C with a rookie to back him up and then depth that has questionmarks. Forgetting Cutler, the running game is going to need to improve leaps and bounds to start setting a foundation for the eventual replacement for Cutler, for them to function and grow in this O.

1. All 4 LB positions - Mike, Jack, Will and Sam

2. CB - primarily the Nickel, but also depth

3. RT and LT

4. 5-Tech

And yes, I agree, a good QB trumps all of the above

If we run the ball more than 6 times a game, I think we'll be okay. Nothing infuriated me more last season than the way Trestman ran the ball. Once or twice a quarter, or 6 times in a row to start the game, then totally abandoning it. Ugh.

I think the Bears are solid in the middle of the OL, but OT scares me.

The Bears could really use Fabujule or even Leno to step up and excel at the RT spot.

As BF51 stated there are a lot of needs, it would be nice I they did not all need to be addressed in free agency or the 1st or 2nd round.

ND is horrible.
OT, S, CB.....QB obviously.

I want to see this yr before talking about LB; I could see someone like Bostic settling in at ILB and being very serviceable or completely bombing. We'll have to see for ourselves.

Chances are we're going to need to find two starting level OT's over the next couple yrs.

On Defense I believe we lack a serious outside pass rusher built for the 3-4. Young is fast and can produce but I am not sure he can be a true 3-4 OLB.

On Offense I think we need an ability to have a road grader RB. Forte is nice in space and around the corners but we don't have a head down runner up the middle. I also have long thoughts on our Oline being a head busting running line.

I choked up (pun intended) with laughter here at work over your avatar. Good Job.

I thought about putting DE on the list, but I think there is some talent there.

If McDonald can stay out of trouble I am sure they will extend him in the offseason and I am interested to see of Ferguson and Sutton can provide some value.

Would be nice to add an actual difference maker, but I think there is more talent at this spot that MLB and S.

MLB is where there is some talent to he excited about.

Would be a huge help if Bostic or Jones could settle in and Foster played well enough to be extended.

And if you think about all of our needs, and that it's a foregone conclusion that Pace will be using our 1st next year on a QB, then we have FA and rounds 2-7 to fill those holes.
