same here, kinda. This is the first time that I'll have a major roll in the day. I'm cooking the turkey and making a pumpkin pie from scratch so if dinner is a failure it's probably going to be my fault. Thankfully I don't have to travel, family is coming to our place

It'll just be my dad and my roomie so not too stressful but still doing it on my own is a little intimidating.

Do you mind if I ask if you volunteer this time? Do you do it with family?

I just ask b/c I'm looking at starting up some family traditions that revolve around service and giving around the holidays.

There's only going to be 8 people at my place but it's going to be the first turkey I've ever cooked. And, it's a pretty expensive bird. I'll be more upset that I wasted the birds life and the money if I mess it up.

I saw an article suggesting cooking the bird upside down in the pan..The white meat usually dries out in the cooking process ,so by cooking it upside down, the bird actually bastes itself. Im going to try it tomorrow

Yikes, I'm not ready to do a whole turkey. I bought a bone-in breast that I'm going to do in the crockpot and then separate drumsticks and wings for the people who like dark meat.

We usually have two Thanksgivings, one with my family and one with hers. But now we're on our own in TX so it'll just be me, the wife and kids.
