Last year at the draft, I was jumping up and down for joy when the Bulls drafted James Johnson. The ball handling skills he had with his size were so tantalizing, and I thought he provide a second player who...

James Johnson is one Luol Deng injury away from getting a chance to show what he can do. But I'm not very optimistic he's going to get a lot of playing time, in general, this year... especially with the addition of Kyle Korver.

He wont see the court much, probably about the same as he did last year.

If he didn't commit stupid fouls, I would like JJ a lot more.

It's worth noting most young players commit a lot of stupid fouls. TOs and PFs are the two areas most young players improve in most.

i'm still befuddled by the fact that anyone can call him dicky johnson for this long. It's almost as if mr happy lacks the capacity to learn.

if deng goes, would you bring korver off the bench or JJ. i guess i'd start korver, so he's on the court whenever rose will be on the court. in the case of an injury, i don't think JJ is fighting korver for minutes, he's fighting bogans for minutes. i don't believe bogans is significantly better than JJ.

Agreed. Johnson will ride the pine a great deal unless he makes improvements. Then again.....non of us would mind if we went in the trade for Rudy Fernandez. :bowrofl:

I was thinking about that, and I think I'd start C.J. Watson, and put Ronnie Brewer at the 3-spot. I just don't like the idea of Kyle Korver averaging 30+ minutes per game... a $5M per year just isn't that much... so why do some Bulls' fans expect monster minutes out of Korver?

If I had to choose a starting SF between Korver and Johnson, I would probably choose Johnson- because Korver should always be used marginally.

If the Bulls didn't have Deng, I would most likely start C.J. Watson or Keith Bogans.

That really doesn't make any sense. You need someone to space the floor and your not getting anything out of Johnson with floor spacing. If Korver plays marginally then the Bulls are going to be screwed on offense. They're going to be pretty shitty efficiency wise.

i understand that point, and i definately would want to increase watsons minutes, but if deng is out, you want korver ONLY(i know it's not realisitc) to be on the floor the same time as rose. at least

If Deng is out, ideally, Bogans and Korver would need to be your two main SFs (maybe throwing Brewer in there, at times)... unless Thibodeau really sees something out of James Johnson that I haven't...

This was the reason they signed Bogans... as a replacement for Deng or Brewer if anything happens to one of them... that's what I'm saying.

I don't want JJ on the court at all... But if Kyle Korver plays over 30 min/game it better only happen if Deng or Brewer goes down... Korver isn't that great of an asset on offense anyway. Deng brings plenty to the table, on that end, than Korver could even dream of...

Korver has a role. As long as we keep him in that role (3-pt specialist) we will be okay. If it gets to the point where we have to ask him to do more than that for an extended period of time, we could be looking at another .500 season. Boozer should help, but that dude's had injury problems his whole career, too. We will overachieve if everyone stays healthy...we will underachieve if key players get injured...pretty much the same story w/ every NBA franchise.

if you have brewer and rose on the team, you need a shooter at 2,3, or 4/5 position. since we lack an elite shooting big man, korver provides more than either bogans/watson(unless watson gets his stroke back).

JJ could probably bring a glass of water to the table. And I don't mean that in any metaphorical way, make him the team's water boy! lol..

Naw j/k he's got athleticism but I say we look to trade him because he's too much of a headache and I don't see that going away. Man want Rudy!

Just because Korver starts doesn't mean he will play 30+ minutes. You'd probably end up seeing a lot more of Brewer at the 3 and Watson playing the 2. Possibly you'd see some Bogans and JJ mixed in there to keep people fresh. But I really do hope the best for JJ if he doesn't get traded away.

Korver should really only play 20 minutes, but with no 30 point shooting he should be on the court for at least 25 minutes. Also many Utah fans have said that Korver finally started to use a pump fake last year and would drive to the basket. Many said this was attributed to his ankle finally healing

i think we should use korver primarily as a player who stuns bulls fans by randomly blocking lebron james once every 7-8 years.
