What ceremonies will take place opening night 10/9?

We know a new banner is going to be raised on Opening Night. But here's some other things I would like to see.

1) Pat Foley being the MC of the night, coming out on the red carpet with the Stanley Cup on display at center ice and introducing the Hawks one at a time that were on the club that won it.

2) No ambassadors this time around. It was very special having them come out on Opening Night last season on skates but this year the focus should be on the new Hawks and the recent chamionship, not the past. I say that with no disrespect intended towards those guys.

3) Presentation of rings.

4) Question: how will the Atlanta Blackhawks receive their rings? We only play them in Atlanta and a ceremony there wouldn't happen. Luckily we get Edmonton in-house so we can honor Colin Fraser but the Atlanta guys and Versteeg in Toronto will not have any homecoming this season which is sad.
Moment of silence for Bob Probert since it's Wings/Hawks?
I don't think so. He may be mentioned by Pat or Eddie in the MC ceremony with loud applause for the guy - but a moment of silence would kill the mood IMO and this is a night to celebrate.

I'm sure there will be all kinds of "special" stuff to buy. Gotta make a buck off of everything, ya know?

Do they bring the cup out? I've never seen that happen before.

Think about who's in charge and I think that will answer your question. You can probably get a professional pic next to the Cup after waiting in line for hours for $20 too on opening night.

Didn't happen in Anaheim's Opening Night in 2007, which I officially was a part of.

I'll assume the same result this October at the UC.

If that's the plan, they better open the doors when the sun comes up.

I'm guessing no since the Cup will be at the convention this weekend.

I would be they'll have a moment of silence for Probert. Celebration or not.

This is my same exact guess.

Just really sucks that about half the guys on the roster who won the Cup will be on different teams. I mean that REALLY SUCKS.
Giving someone who played for the organization 7 years, died tragically, a moment of silence equates to Banner night how?

Go find the correct thread and troll that.
Its the first game of the year... The fact he died in the offseason means it will be carried over to opening night... either that or the 1st exhibition game held in Chicago, which I sincerely doubt will happen. It will be in the back of everyone's mind, thus likely the club could also highlight it.

However, the moment of silence could also end up happening at the convention. That's really up to McDonough to decide, as we know. I'm assuming that it will happen at the convention instead, and the banner ceremony will be without the moment of silence. This would be the more appropriate approach, but still expect some sort of rememberance during opening night for those who do not attend the convention.

1) Why would the cup NOT be there on Opening Night? It should be the last night the team gets to keep it to celebrate. Then when the puck drops the league can take it back for the start of the new season. Would seem very odd for it not to be the center piece at center ice during the ceremony.

2) Nothing against Probie - he was my fav player for many years but mixing a somber funeral moment with the glorious achievement of raising a championship banner just doesn't make sense. I agree as one poster suggested - hold the moment of silence at the convention and the preseason game.

It will be there for opening night, no question about it... It just won't be there for public viewing up close. The Hawks will get their last celebration with it, and that will be it.

After the banner is raised, the Cup will immediately then be shipped back to its home in Toronto.
