The more I watch the replays of that last play, the more I believe that if Odunze had kept running instead of looking back that CW's pass would've been right on the money. Think about how much that would've changed everything. Bears pull off a miracle win and Flus is probably still HC.

Life can be stranger than fiction.

Sadly, you're probably right. The media & social media backlash from this next major collapse was nationally televised. We've seen 6 or 7 such games blown already, but the rest of the NFL really took notice with this L. (per your avatar - Welcome to the party pal(s).)

Bears kept him employed despite all the shit prior, but public forced their hand here, just like they did with Waldron.

Except the players aren't coached to do things differently so everything works out right or else things would've been working right all along and there would be no problem.

Hot seat Flus last year changed nothing. Hot seat Flus this year changed nothing even longer.
Nothing was going to change because Flus was being Flus.

Yep. I watched it a lot of too. Great pass, Odunze stuttered and missed it. Flus would still be the HC if he keeps running.

I noticed that, too. Would have been close. He might have gotten tackled right at the 1 yard line, which would have been an even more gut wrenching play.

The crosser Caleb missed to DJ looked like it would have been the GW touchdown if he just set his feet. That was the biggest miss of them all on that drive.

Do you think the defender got a piece of his arm on that cross play? I don’t think the defender did, but I figured I’d ask.

Yup, I said it in the game thread. If he trusted the pass and didn’t slow down, it was about as good as it can get. Whatever though… it was a prayer of a play.

that's the part I find wild about the firing, dude zigged instead of zagged and altered the whole timeline. it wasn't really one play though, it was a long string of easily avoidable gaffes that led to this
Very true. The point is that even with all the fuckups he's had over the last couple years....that one pass could have saved him....if only temporarily.

He deserved to be fired last year. Hot seat coaches don't work out, it's why they're on the hot seat.

People say the post press conference firing is bad, but maybe his answers during it were part of the reason. Flus hasn't been taking responsibility for anything. He hasn't had good answers for the whys. Eventually someone in charge is going to say enough.

As much as I am mad about all these losses, it’s better that this happened. Flus was never going to be the guy to lead this team to a SB. Imagine if he was here in 2025. I’d rather not.
