It means healthy competition for the 5th starter slot, and no more guaranteed losses from Danks. His winning percentage has to be putrid.

I beleive that it is the first step to putting a guy our on waivers wherre teams go in order(orst to first) to claim him. ANd if they claim him then they have to play the rest of his contract. If not calimed the Sox have to pay the remainder of the contrct and he becomes a free agent.
