Joey Bosa is the best fit if it wasn't for the injury history so if you're talking measurements it's Bosa.

I like Odeyingbo a bunch but I would want him on a Dorance Armstrong contract, not $16M+ like I suspect he will end up getting.

Every DE in FA this year has some kind of warts, whether its too old, too injured, or (likely to be) too overpaid. So Poles either has to pick his poison with a FA or sign a cheap journeyman and use one of the first 3 draft picks to solve the position which I think is probably the best path for the Bears. I think something like Sweat/Mykel Williams/Demarcus Lawrence/Austin Booker wouldnt be the worst DE rotation we've seen.

I like that top 4 at DE you have there. I've been saying if we don't go big dollar then go with a vet we can get on a lower year and lower price contract and adding to that with one of the top 3 picks and the two vets i've been saying were either Demarcus Lawrence or Mathew Judon.

We lose because all we do is look for DE hires. We need men. REAL Men. Men with lunch pails. Men who hide their homosexuality.

You do? Why? Not being snarky. Just curious. He’s someone I really don’t get all the interest in.

His age and size are the biggest draws for me. Younger than most of the other FA DEs, sets a hard edge, and still may have upside as a pass rusher. I think he is a good DE2 to pair with a better pass rushing end which the Bears are paying Sweat to be, if you can get an Odeyingbo for 11-12M a year you can also slide him to your 3rd end in a year or so if let’s say they draft Mykel Williams and he takes off. In a better FA class you probably can get a player like him for 11-12M - WAS got a player with similar production in Dorance Armstrong for that amount last year, but the lack of strong options in this years FA class I think means he gets $16M+ a year and I’m not as excited about him at that price point.

They’re taking about him as an 18-20 mil player is my issue.

I am much more interested in the trade availability guys Garrett or Hendrickson. Someone the opposition fears and needs to game plan for. Mediocrity will get you mediocrity. It's a shame the Bears have drafted nobody in that category, maybe Jaylon Johnson or Kyler Gorden. Hopefully someday Odunze or maybe CW. Maybe Jeanty.

There just is no Urhlacher, Briggs or Devin Hester. The Bears have gone through numerous draft picks trying to get a QB in the last 30 years, and it has affected the supporting cast.

Hasson Reddick?
Not a natural fit if you go by measurements for what Dennis Allen likes. I don't understand why this is still a thing on most teams because if the guy can get to the QB then who gives a shit if he weighs 265 or 245 IMO.

I agree but the problem is we don't have a great pass rusher to put him opposite of, we have a good pass rusher and a better all around DE with Sweat against the pass and run but i've said this so much, Sweat has never even had 10 sacks in a season until the season we traded for him when he had 12 total between us and Wash. If we had Trey Hendrickson or someone like him then i like your idea better.

Now like you said, if we hit big on a DE in the draft that takes over as our top pass rusher then a guy like Odeyingbo would be great and there's others like M.Koonce or H.Landry or a few older vets in D.Lawrence, Preston Smith or Mathew Judon.

I’m not sure how much of a thing it still is. Defenses are becoming more hybrid. But I do think it’s a thing about the run game more than the pass rush.
