Orlando, FL -- The Orlando Magic have signed free agent guards Larry Hughes and Gabe Pruitt, President of Basketball Operations/General Manager Otis Smith announced today. Per team policy, terms of the deal are not disclosed. Both players will participate in training camp, which begins later this evening.
Hughes (#20, 6’5”, 185, 1/23/79) has appeared in 718 regular season games (509 starts) during his 12-year NBA career with Philadelphia, Golden State, Washington, Cleveland, Chicago, New York and Charlotte, averaging 14.2 ppg., 4.2 rpg., 3.2 apg. and 1.52 stlpg. in 31.0 minpg. He has also played in 49 career playoff outings (38 starts), averaging 12.6 ppg., 4.5 rpg., 2.8 apg. and 1.63 stlpg. in 33.3 minpg. Hughes was originally selected in the first round (eighth overall) of the 1998 NBA Draft by Philadelphia.
Pruitt (#13, 6’4”, 185, 4/19/86) was originally selected in the second round (32nd overall) of the 2007 NBA Draft by Boston. He has played in 62 career regular season NBA games, all with the Celtics, averaging 2.0 ppg. in 7.4 minpg. Pruitt has played in four games this season with the Sioux Falls Skyforce, Orlando’s affiliate in the NBA Development League, averaging 17.8 ppg., 4.5 apg., 3.5 rpg. and 1.20 stlpg. in 35.8 minpg.
