Patrick Kane - Jonathan Toews - Troy Brouwer
Teemu Selanne - Patrick Sharp - Marian Hossa
Tomas Kopecky - Dave Bolland - Viktor Stalberg
Bryan Bickell - Marty Reasoner - Jack Skille

Duncan Keith - Brent Seabrook
Niklas Hjalmarsson - Ivan Vishnevskiy
Shawn Lalonde - Jordan Hendry

(John Scott, Nick Boynton, Jake Dowell, Kyle Beach)

Antti Niemi - Corey Crawford

#1 - Send Brian Campbell and a mix of draft picks and a prospect to the Islanders for nothing (future considerations). The Islanders have 29 million in cap space and still have not hit the cap floor yet. I have said before that Campbell is untradable but adding in some of our surplus of picks and a decent prospect would make him movable. Being he has a limited NTC I would give him the option to play with the Islanders or play his contract out in europe, basically forcing him to play ball.

#2 - Sign Teemu Selanne who is still a point a game player at 40 years old who gives our power play depth and is still an asset on a scoring line. 1 year deal at 2 million. He can sit half the season to stay healthy and make sure he is 100% for the post season.

#3 - If Niemi can be had at 2.75-3 million I would resign him, if not I would contact Turco and see what he is commanding.

Sure giving away draft picks, a good puck moving defensemen, and a good prospect for nothing seems dumb. Look at it long term, that Campbell contract is going to haunt the team for years to come and I would be willing to do anything in my power to get rid of it. Doing so would ensure Patrick Sharp stays on the team as well Brent Seabrook would get an extension. Also moving forward without Campbell, Huet, and the 4 million dollar hit this season we could be potential buyers next off season as well.

I would TOTALLY be ok with this. It just seems way too improbable for Campbell to move. But if this happened, I would be a happy man!

I know it would be hard but the Islanders are looking to spend money... the recently offered Kovalchuk a 10 year 100 million dollar deal. It would probably take throwing in a couple high draft picks and a player like Paradis. Still giving all that away would really take that burden that is going to continue to cause problems with the cap for the next 5 years.

That's cheating. :p

Now come up with a roster of 24 with Campbell. You already admitted Campbell isn't going anywhere.

I know I cheated, but I don't see how we can retain a proven goaltender (Niemi or Turco) without moving Patrick Sharp. Maybe we could trade for Cory Schneider being he is stuck behind Luongo but I doubt Vancouver would be looking to help us out.

Very true. Maybe Minnesota would be willing to move...oh, what's his name...they have Backstom as their #1...

Selanne? Ick. No thanks.

Selanne had nearly identical stats to Hossa's last season (games played, goals, assists). He is 40 years old and would need to be babied through the regular season but if he is healthy for the playoffs he still has elite level skill and scoring touch and is a huge asset on the power play. Keep in mind he did not play with Getzlaf, Perry, or Ryan he lined with Blake and Koivu and playing with Sharp and Hossa could really resurrect his career for another season.

Plus he made less than 3 million last year and could be had cheap vs his potential production.
