Dear All,

I know you guys all think I'm "trolling" or "pranking"... but in this thread, it is not the case.

All of my buddies love Game of Thrones... they think the sister fucking and naked boys are awesome.

However, I watched the first three episodes and did not get hooked. If I remember right... all the kids got wolves and a dumb kid fell out of a castle.

Still... Everyone comments on how awesome the show is and I sincerely want to get into it. Someone please sell me on whats to come from Season 1 on (without spoilers plz).

Can someone please tell me the allure over this show and the benefits of sticking with it?

Thank you so much in advance!

Regards,
Grimson

I started to get hooked after the 6th episode I think. After the first three, I actually thought about giving up on the show. It took me 3 weeks before I watched the 4th episode. Less than a month after that, I finished season 3.

This is the type of feedback I'm looking for.

I almost gave up on Breaking Bad after 3 episodes too.

Thank you.

I watched the first episode and didnt much care for it, took me like 2 months before I bothered watching the 2nd episode and probably another 2 weeks to a month before getting around to the third, but then something clicked and I watched the rest straight through until I caught up with the series. Granted I dont think anything in the series has been as good as the first season from the forth episode on, but I still dig the show despite its up and downs. Its not the greatest show off all time like some seem to believe, hell, its not even the best show currently on TV, but its pretty good and worth watching if you can get into it.

I say watch the fourth episode, if youre still not feeling it then its just not your thing.

Books? Dork!

I'm no dork, I'm a nerd, D&D style, old school, full on, nerd. I was hooked after the first season preview, so I have nothing relevant to add.

Except: dragons and tits.

My missus loves it, and i've seen every episode as a loving hubby... To be honest though, i don't care for it; it's too far fetched (even for a fictional show) and nothing is explained properly.
It's like "oh, so she just slept in a burning house, but came out with live dragons, did she? Okay then, lets move on now..."

I spend more of my time trying to remember what had previously gone on, than i do watching the show itself.

Ignore your mates Grimson and go find something you like yourself, or - better still - take HeHateMe's advice, and go watch The Wire (again)!

I've read books 1-3. I like it, but I think Martin is way too wordy and doesn't get to the point quick enough. I didn't need 3000+ pages to get where I need to be for the first three installments. My wife has read all 5, and she's also complained about his wordiness.

When are those goddamned dragons and Dany getting across that stupid sea?

The problem that people will have that adhere to the books will be the constant changes the show will do to have an arc that works for its respective medium, for example: Tyrion's chain that he forged in book 2. I really hoped they addressed it in the show, but chose to leave it out. It was a major plot point, but the show resolved it well.

I will read the books, once the show is finished. Normally its the other way around, but this one caught me off guard. Can't wait till they make, "Kingdom For Sale" (its on the drawing board) from Terry Brooks. Should be a great Movie if done correctly.

My wife likes it, and has no problem with my Lannister in her Hordor.

I have an obsession with anything at all that goes back to the days of Kings and Popes ruling over the masses. Currently watching season 3 of Borgias. Those mother ******* were ruthless. The debauchery is legit in that series.

The Hound and aryas relationship is one of my fav parts of the show.
But im a Tyrion mark all the way. i actually probably wouldnt care about the show if not for that character and Dinklages performances. Its really the biggest draw for me so when he dies ill probably be finished with the show. Dinklage rules.

Im not even a science fiction/fantasy genre fan but this show just got to me. The acting is amazing and that is probably why I am invested. I find most acting in fantasy shows and films as flakey or too over-acted. Not the case in Game Of Thrones even with some pretty hokey writing at times. And **** it the show is pretty i like how it is filmed.
