Best thing about the interweb is talking about the interweb on the interweb. It's not the same talking about the interweb over the phone.

Really is still a young technology. I can't imagine where it is going to be in 10 years time. Then again I can't imagine a world without 5 popped collars.

That's the scary part, people are more and more dependant on it. While it's easier, the more we use, interact, and rely on it. The more monitorable we are. At all times. I truely believe big brother is watching. And waiting.

Bryant Bumble was freaking out. I wonder what would happen if he ever interview Al Gore about the internet.

BG: "So, what is this new fangled internets?"

AG: "You know...I created...the internet."

BG: "I know, but what is it? What is that symbol???"

AG: "It's what...I created."

BG: "Is it about? Is it 'a circled'? Agh!!! Katie, what the **** is it!!!"

KC: "Ummmmm 'a circled'?"

Mass, there are people watching. But there isn't enough server space or computing power to look at everyone every minute of the day. It's not stored either, only stuff of interest. Terrorism buzz words and names are often the triggers. Just don't talk about doing certain bad things to important US assets, and if you have middle eastern, Chinese, or Russian friends you may want to think twice about dropping their full name.

Technology is changing every day, I don't have any doubt that one day everything will be indexed for active monitoring. They won't be able to look at everything all the time, but they'll be able to find anything anywhere.

They've been monitoring email traffic for over 10 years. At least that's what i was told back then.

Yes, but monitoring is different than archiving.

Either way there has to be a practical application of that processed and trended data. If there is no good use for it, then no congressional committee will approve it, black budget or otherwise.

Wow... just wow.

Thank you, Sir!

It's just ridiculous to me that NBC got all butt hurt over this, fired the guy and pulled all the videos. IT WAS 1994 for gods sake, just roll with it instead of creating a PR nightmare.
