There's been a lot of good basketball movies.

Hoosiers...The Air Up There...Above the Rim...Air Bud...Blue Chips...Basketball Dreams...Forget Paris...

In your opinion what is your favorite hoops movie?

I think Blue Chips was under-rated and I get a lot of flack for this because it's Penny Hardaway but I seriously believe he should have received Oscar consideration for his role. He was funny...he was serious...he was dramatic...he was energetic...all the things you expect from a good actor. I thought Hardaway was every bit as good in that movie as Ray Allen in "He Got Game."

Also, Nick Nolte showed why he was a true actor (at least in those days). There's no doubt about it - he WAS a basketball coach in that movie.

Anyone know what happened to Ricky Roe? He was the next Larry Bird! What happened?

What's your favorite basketball movie or even non-basketball movie with an NBA player cameo?

Aw man, how could I forget those?

I just watched Eddie for all the NBA players. Malik Sealy...Rick Fox...GP...even Dwayne Shintzius was in that. And Ostertag. Terrible, TERRIBLE movie...but good roles by the NBA guys.

Space Jam had some great scenes as well...Bill Murray was great with Bird and Jordan....Charles Barkley and Muggsy and Ceballos were funny...Shawn Bradley and Ewing...that had its good moments.

What about Like Mike? That looked too hokey for me so i never saw it.

Don't forget VDN had a line in Eddie. I'm pretty sure that put him up for best supporting actor that year but I believe he lost to John Salley.

How has nobody mentioned Hoop Dreams?

I know it's a documentary, but it's still a movie, no? And probably one of the best I've ever seen period, not just the best basketball movie, imo.

White Men Can't Jump is probably my favorite fictional basketball movie.
