What NBA player does Nikola Mirotic project as?

Most of us know by now, Nikola Mirotic won an MVP award playing for Real Madrid. When Mirotic comes over, we will have an NBA MVP playing with a former Euroleague MVP.

Unfortunately, Mirotic won't be coming over for another 3 years. If you can't wait to see him in action, check out the Piston's starting PF Jonas Jerebko. Imagine this guy playing alongside Derrick Rose, and you'll get an idea of how Mirotic will fit.

Jerebko is the same height and weight as Mirotic. He also has the same type of game and set of skills. Both are stretch four who also bring some toughness and rebounding to the position. Both are primarily sharp-shooters who can also drive and dunk on their man.

Another good comparison is young Hedo Turkoglu. Can't wait to get this guy in a Bulls uniform.

Jerebko has been great for Detroit to start the season. I've really been impressed by his inside game and he can also shoot pretty well from the perimeter. If Mirotic is similar to him then I also can't wait to see him in Chicago.

If Mirotic is as good as Jerebko for us, I can't be disappointed. That said, I'm not sure if Jerebko ever won any awards in Europe. I've had the impression that Mirotic is a better shooter and if that's the case, we could have a pretty dangerous lineup if he can defend as well.

It's kind of weird how the team would be melding together with Rose being a hybrid PG/SG to go along with the Euros. It's a good time to be a Bulls fan. It's not as fun as the 90s,...but it's still fun nonetheless.

It sucks we're going to have to wait to see this guy can do. Maybe this'll be a lot like Toni Kukoc's situation where we wait three years and his addition really pays off. As impatient as fans are, three more years playing against solid competition will probably be enough experience to give him an impact rookie season.

Dirk.

He also can come over sooner if he wants to and the Bulls buy him out. Which they could do. His buyout + contract could be cheaper than a free agent on the open market here so in a year or so it may make better financial sense for the Bulls to buy him out and bring him across.

I'm not sure Jerebko is who I'd compare Mirotic too. I mean I can see it in terms of ballhandling and body type, but Mirotic is a much purer shooter than Jerebko, and his offensive game is easily better than Jerebko's in just about every facet. I think your Hedo comparison was a lot closer. I'd say a more explosive Hedo with a heavier offensive arsenal.

Don't know how much he makes in Europe but I do know that NBA teams can only contribute $500,000 towards any buyout for a player playing overseas

Let's put it this way. Mirotic is so good right now, that Spain is trying to find a way to get FIBA to allow him to be on their 2012 Olympic roster. Jerebko is a reasonable comparison with size, frame, hustle & hardwork, but at only 20 Nikola's already a more polished player. He's a pure shooter, with great instincts on offense, an excellent FT shooter, & can put in the floor & score with ease. Someone said Hedo, which I can agree with, but harder-working, tougher, & with a better post-game.

I called him Kukoc II on draft night, partly because of historical roles in regards to where the Bulls were at then and where we are at now. So many months later, I still think that isn't a bad comparison.

Ill second the Kukoc sentiments. I like his hustle. The euroleauge is not a bad place to learn ball security; since hand checking is as common as batteries used a expressions of displeasure with a teams' performance.

Seriously, I hope we see a line up that includes JButler and NMirotic in the next few years. Even this early in the season I would like see Jimmy running with the bench. He needs the experience, and with Rip out- I'm sure Thibbs can find the minutes.

Love Jimi.

Im just hoping that we actually keep his draft rights unless the trade that we send him off in is for an elite player
