With the trade deadline rapidly approaching GM Kenny Williams has a tough decision on his hands. Should he do some minor tweaking to the team or try to make a major trade that would impact the team’s future as well as change the dynamic of the team this season. Kenny Williams is no stranger to making dead line deals. He is always looking for ways to improve the team. Last season he added Centerfielder Alex Rios and Starter Jake Peavy. In previous years the Sox have been among the most active teams during the trade deadline.
Due to the dismal play of the White Sox during the early portion of the season the Sox looked like a team that would be sellers this season. There was talk of trading Catcher AJ Pierzynski before his 5 and 10 rights kicked in. People believed the Sox should move First Baseman Paul Konerko because he was having a great start and his value would not be higher. There was even talk of moving Pitcher Mark Buerhle.
My how times have changed, since June 9th the Sox have ripped baseball apart with a 28-8 record. This season the Sox have done what many people believed was impossible, they have flipped their season. Now the Sox look like a team that will be buying.
