Just a simple question, how do you think this SL will go for us? Do you think Dougie will show that he deserves a bigger role on the squad? How do you think Bobby Portis is gonna do? Let's talk. :yep:

I think Doug is going to have a big SL. He is playing with a chip on his shoulder and he wants to show his new coach that he deserves playing time.

I think Portis is going to have a surprising good SL as well. I'm optimistic about him. I don't know too much about his game because I didn't follow Arkansas basketball, but from what I've seen he looks like a versital player who is mentally ready for the NBA.

I also think Tony Snell is going to have a good summer. He show led a few times this year that he can get hot and get numbers. He is by far better than the typical SL player so he will be able to impress

Gotta throw in that I want to see Illini Ravonte Rice ro have a big SL and make the team

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Bulls
It's summer league. Guys can put up huge statlines and fall flat on their face in the regular season and have a bust career.

The best part about summer league, is being able to watch all NBA teams play and see if anyone shows enough potential to sign and pick up for the practice squad(as many SL players are available for pickup). Then you go from there, if your practice squad guys pan out, you give them a roster spot/7-days/D-League with hopes they might keep improving.

As far as Portis, he'll get time to show his stuff on his rookie contract. The FO gave up a lot for McDermott, so he's going to get a lot of benefit of the doubt regardless of SL play.

Doug tore it up in SL last year, we all saw how little that meant. I'm hopeful he can turn it around, but I'm not going to jump the gun from SL.

Part of that could be Thibs and then Doug's injury.

its rookies, scrubs, and bad defense. McD will excel again, you gotta cover his shot.

Don't think Snell is playing in it this year but still. The bulls will probably be going in with a front line of Bairstow, Portis, and Doug. They should be good.

Then the Illini guard.

Will E'tane Moore run the team? How does that work when your backups are older vets?

Don't teams makes players in their first 2 years play in SL but after that it's players choice? I remember Artest playing in SL in his first year or so with the Kings.....I think and that's because he chose to do so.

Would love to see darrell williams, he was exonerated and has a lot of potential...I liken him to a poor man's barkley...an undersized foward who does a good job on the offensive glass and putbacks. There is no reason mcdermott should not dominate this summer league, he should have improved his ball handling skills and movement on the defensive side. Portis should be like any rookie, he will have his moments and his struggles, I just hope that hoiberg gives him some minutes as a rookie instead of thibs who often glued his rookies to the bench unless he had no other choice.
