Drive around a town at night stealing residents' Christmas decorations and extension cords?.

I ask b/c someone hit me and my neighbor last night, then when I filed a police report I was informed there have been a rash of similar complaints.

I mean Jesus, I realize the economy sucks but WTF...someone stole my path markers for God's sakes.

Seriously though, my neighbor had one of those blow-up snowmen taken(he's really pissed). If I catch this person, he's getting beaten and then drug into my house. Then I break a basement window and call the cops. When they arrive, they'll be arresting a burglar after he gets out of the hospital.

If you're that desperate, rob a bank and do the shit right.

I was a punk ass teenager once. We did something similar, youthful stupidity / ignorance / nothing better to do / drinking beer on a Friday night in a small town. I guess we didn't even think about it as stealing at the time. We stashed them in my friends basement. Parents discovered. Made us take everything back, set it all back up the way it was and leave apology notes. We did that little black ops mission in the wee hours of the morning over several days. Two stories written in the local paper. The first bashing the shit out of us (deservedly), which ultimately led to the discovery by my friends parents. Second story written about the "Christmas spirit being alive and well", after we put everything back exactly how we found it. Full apology note in print. Lesson learned. God I did some stupid shit.

This one wasn't kids, the assholes went straight for the extension cords.

Now I'm using brackets to screw the cords into the trees, and hiding small pieces of plywood with 3 inch drywall screws *facing up* near the cords.

Anyone that attempts this again is in for a painful surprise.

They only got 1 good cord, the rest were $6 cheapies...that's why I was so astounded someone wasted their time.

Last time this happened it was my copper downspout and a portion of gutter while I was out of town, which made more sense b/c that had actual value.

It was REALLY windy here last night and I had a santa and reindeer blow into my yard so I just plugged them in. I thought it was pretty creative. Nothing wrong with finders-keepers. IMO.
