There are some trails I'd like to backpack. Either thru hike or section hike, doesn't matter to me. Appalachian Trail, even though it's too busy and crowded, I'd still like to do it. Then I'd like to do the John Muir Trail specifically and section hike the Pacific Crest Trail. Now, I'm in pretty good shape right now, no lingering injuries from my youth, but I have a personal trainer and am trying to stay in good health until I retire (hopefully in 15 years). I'd be 58, depending on if I can swing retiring in 15 years, and hopefully in good condition to section hike at the very least.
Some background, former competitive athlete, always been in decent shape or great shape (depending on the year), eat relatively healthy and do shorter hiking trips currently. I've recently been carded to purchase alcohol, so I appear much younger than I actually am. Father time hasn't caught up to me, but I fear he will very soon since I have a 3 year old and a 7 month old. Which brings me to my next hurdle... retiring while I have children in school.
edit: To answer the more general question by the OP. I'd like to have a home in an urban area/busy location and one in the mountains or near the mountains. Where I can travel between them and spend 4-5 weeks in either location depending on time of year or even my mood. Outdoor activities keep me going. If I continue some sort of employment, I'd side with something where eye candy is prevalent. LOL
