Please don't say you will go to Denny's with people you met on the Internet, or spend all day online bragging about your supposed wealth and learning and misusing teenaged slang. I have higher hopes for you than that.

I think that you need to lower your expectations of the upcoming responses.

Sick burn.

Let’s be real: you will just continue to pound natty light and inhale booger sugar while trolling the message board of a football team that isn’t even your team’s rival. You’ll do it so much you will eventually be promoted to mod.

Oh, you already did that!

I bought a place with acres and a few out buildings to start a little like hobby farm. I will be growing a wide range of vegetables and fruits . May 17 i plan on putting sweet corn seed in the ground, along with Watermellon,Pumpkins, and Cantaloupe. Will start growing in the house probably late March. Allready built chicken coop and run last summer. Allready planted 12 apple trees of different varieties. Pear trees this spring. Would like to clear about 5-7 acres for a few beef cattle also thus year.
Plan on selling Fruits, Vegetables, Eggs, and campsite firewood by the road in front. Will take haywagon loaded up with all i grow to the local farmers market.

Im not doing this for an income i have 2 pensions and the wife works. Anything i sell goes towards my kids education

There are some trails I'd like to backpack. Either thru hike or section hike, doesn't matter to me. Appalachian Trail, even though it's too busy and crowded, I'd still like to do it. Then I'd like to do the John Muir Trail specifically and section hike the Pacific Crest Trail. Now, I'm in pretty good shape right now, no lingering injuries from my youth, but I have a personal trainer and am trying to stay in good health until I retire (hopefully in 15 years). I'd be 58, depending on if I can swing retiring in 15 years, and hopefully in good condition to section hike at the very least.

Some background, former competitive athlete, always been in decent shape or great shape (depending on the year), eat relatively healthy and do shorter hiking trips currently. I've recently been carded to purchase alcohol, so I appear much younger than I actually am. Father time hasn't caught up to me, but I fear he will very soon since I have a 3 year old and a 7 month old. Which brings me to my next hurdle... retiring while I have children in school.

edit: To answer the more general question by the OP. I'd like to have a home in an urban area/busy location and one in the mountains or near the mountains. Where I can travel between them and spend 4-5 weeks in either location depending on time of year or even my mood. Outdoor activities keep me going. If I continue some sort of employment, I'd side with something where eye candy is prevalent. LOL

About an hour ago i just had the DNR call me about joining them. I put my name on their job list like about a year ago. I have to go in there every year to get a burning permit
Anyways i couldnt pass their requirements . They want you to be able to walk with a loaded back pack on ( 50 lbs) 2 miles in under 30 minutes .
My knees wont allow me to do that.

Good to know. I currently could do that requirement. What type of work would they require you to do and where are you located?

Payton i have young children in school and im retired. But my wife is younger and convinced me having children would be ok for us. At 53 for me my knees went. Hopefully father time wont sneak up on you like it did me .

That's my fear too. Currently, I feel great. I've started spending some cash on a personal trainer at a small gym I like to help keep me in the physical condition to keep up with my kids, but also striving to be in great shape when I retire. Father time is the bastard that is always sneaking up on us and will attack with zero notice.

Beautiful area up there. A couple friends who also backpack are considering a week trip to Isle Royale.

Become a snowbird. Buy some property on a Golf Course in AZ or FL most likely. Drink booze, golf and play bingo
