Hello all. I’m been hanging around for a long time and finally decided to join in today. I just wanted to know if anyone else noticed that Derrick tried to get the ball from Loul last night during that last play, but Loul refused to pass it. Then he missed the shot and the rim. Is this Derrick's team or Loul's team?

Luol Deng has developed into a really selfish player. It's too the detriment to the team too. Someone with a 51.9 TS% doesn't deserve to be taking 14.8 FGA each game. He should be taking like 5-6.

On the bright side Luol has played stellar defense, and his rebounding has been great this year. But offensively, he's just not a good player.

Sorry about the title.

What's the real pecking order?

Also, I'm not trying to bash Deng as a player. I'm really just hoping that DR has the courage to step up and take over this team.

The only players shooting better than Deng right now are Miller and Noah. So someone has to shoot, and it may as well be Deng, given I'm pretty sure Noah can't increase his volume without a drastic decrease in efficiency, and Brad Miller is an old man who none the less is near a career high in FGA/minute.

This is the same old crap, BG is a chucker who wont pass the ball, Kirk doesn't like Rose and refused to give the ball up to him, blah blah blah. Rose isn't so good yet that he gets to take every shot.

There is no true pecking order, the Bulls have to win as a team, everybody will get their chance to make plays down the stretch and in crunch time, this will make the Bulls grow, and as a team they'll be better for it, they will have to execute their offense. 3-2 I love it, ONLY THE BULLS, ONLY THE BULLS, YOUR ONE AND ONLY CHICAGO BULLS!!!!!!!!!

The idea of Deng taking 5-6 shots a game is ludicrous. If he only took 6 shots a game, this team would not have made a couple of those playoffs, and wouldn't be 3-2 now. He has been fantastic early and once he is consistent offensively, he will be the player that he was in 2006-07. He was Mr. Bull that year. Right now because of his rebounding principally. He has an 18.7 PER rating. This might be his best year yet after this rough month is over and they play mediocre eastern conference talent.

The 51.9% is 3rd best on the team behind Noah and Miller. Deng has been the Bulls best offensive player this season even in his mediocrity.

As a side note, 51.9% isn't that bad. It's clearly not great, but it's not 5-6 shot a game bad. It's probably right around the league average in a typical year.

The league average TS% last year was 54.4%.

So Luol Deng is clearly a bad offensive player, as he is below the average. And you don't want a bad offensive player taking the most shots on your team. I guess that speaks volumes to just how bad the Bulls have been offensively this year, that Deng, a bad offensive player, is one of the team's best. Of course, it should come to no surprise that the Bulls are one of the worst offensive teams in the league (27th right now).

Guys, I'm not complaining about about the amount of shots Deng takes. Unfortunately he is now our best scorer, so he has to take those shots. I do, though, expect Derrick to get the ball every time he calls for it, and that didn't happen yesterday. That is my concern.

Well the way Derrick Rose is scoring the basketball, it's much better in Deng's hands than Rose's.

You know what? You may be right, but if Derrick is going be a superstar, he has to learn how to make plays in clutch situations.

Derrick is not healthy...its obvious...cut him some slack.

I think Luol's numbers will continue to improve. I am impressed with his 18.7 PER which matches his high in 2007. I think he will be fine...

Derrick's probably not going to be a superstar, and in that lies the problem.

Although i'm not as certain as you are, I have the same concern.

What do we do?

What do we do?

Hopefully get really lucky in 2010 free agency. Otherwise, we're likely going to see another rebuild.

Rebuild 1: Brand/Artest/Miller
Rebuild 2: Twin Towers
Rebuild 3: The Paxson Era
Rebuild 4: Derrick Rose
Rebuild 5: ?????

At least give him a couple of years. He has only played a year and looked great. Whatever it is, the derrick rose we see today isn't going to be the same rose we have at the end of the year.

You don't play with the entire league, you play with the team mates you have. So in that context saying Deng should get 6 shots a game is rubbish.

Besides, as I mentioned elsewhere, Deng is a low turnover player (and even more so this year), so taking him as a whole he's probably at least average in overall efficiency.
