I'd bet money the site will bog down again during this years draft as it did last year, possibly for the SB.

The server for this site seems to be the Marvin Lewis of servers.

This. Fix the damn shit!!!

The way things work is when a site is drawing so much traffic, performance takes a hit, but profits go up and are used to improve the site, keeping pace with the improved traffic.

The problem is the traffic spikes are so sporadic 90% of the time everything is fine, but Bears games, playoffs, the SB, the Draft, that other 10% are just brutal. The CCS powers that be seem to be okay with the site being good 90% of the time.

Maybe I should look for another place to go for Bears/NFL things when CCS is crapping it's pants.

But traffic isn't going to continue to go up when visitors visit the boards on game days or important events and you can't even get it to load.

So traffic drops off and the problem fixes itself.

I looked when the site was down for a few days about a couple months ago and let me tell you, it's slim pickens out there. You can either talk with Jay Cutler nuthuggers, 12 year olds or people who take posting more seriously then Windy.

If they continue to screw this up, something will eventually replace it.This place was pretty slow before the CBMB shut down, Rush went there and promised unmodded conversations, we got that for a while, and CCS blew up.

Maybe a poster here will get tired of the way things are going and do something about it, make some mad google bucks like Rush. Rush has moved on to other businesses, probably financed by CCS, it doesn't look like he is reinvesting in this place to keep up with busy traffic times. We'll see how the SB and the draft go, who knows?

The servers being down or crazy lag have nothing to do with traffic

What about you? I saw you said you were nearing retirement. It could be a really fun retirement hobby...

Championship Sunday coincidence? Could be, like I said, we'll see how the SB and draft go. If these problems are random, does that make them better?

Oh no you don't, I've got my retirement hobbies all picked out and being forced to deal with pricks like me, that's just not on the list. I'm sure some energetic young entrepreneur will step up and fill the void, there is definitely money to be made. Apart from the technical issues, this place feels played out, I know traffic is thriving, but the right kind of alternative at the right time could really catch on. Rush saw an opening when CBMB shut down and he jumped all over that opportunity and it changed his life.

If the owners of this site were alive 40 or 50 years ago, this is what they would probably be selling.
