His eye for the plate is darn good. He has a ricket arm that is accurate. He throws out runners better than Willson. Also, Willson is allowing Alzolay and Arrieta to rely on 2 pitches for the entire game. Alzolay looked much better with pitch selection the other day, but Arrieta did not. Also, what is Ross doing allowing Arrieta and Alzolay to rely on 2 pitches an entire game? He has backed up some good arms, so I have no clue why he is allowing poor pitch selection. Maybe we need to trade Willson now while he is good and call up Amaya.

Really?

Where to start:

Amaya AA: .215/.406/.304

Injured list sense June 3rd.

So first they just signed a vet back up.
Then when he was active he was hitting AA pitching at .215. He has never sniffed AAA pitching. And he has been out with injury for a month to boot.

But he is going to come in and replace Wilson?

Come on now.

The Cubs would be smarter to extend Wilson and keep Chirinos around for a few years. Give vet stability to the new generation of pitching.

Trade Amaya in a deal for a pitcher in the off season.

One guy that may hit the market this year: And having Opt power is something Jed goes for.

What the Cubs need is some wash out. Pitching has been a strength to this team and that falls on David and the catchers. We can talk smack about David in his line up construction and all. But he is doing what we expected him to do. To help improve the staff. He was never a starting level catcher because he was never a good hitter. So I never expected him to impact the O. Joe was a hitting coach so you knew that the O would tick better under him.

But what they need more are stable pillars to build around. You do not want to bring in the next gen with nothing around them. That never works. What they need is the right pieces in place and then let the kids develop.

I hear a lot of flush it out. Fire sale and so on. It is all reactionary responses to a bad season. It really lacks foresight.

Ask your self the question? How will a kid do with a bunch of kids vs teams that are adjusted to the Majors? Shitty. That is the only answer.

So there has to be a process. Filter in and filter out. Not pull the hose out and watch this team flounder for 10 years like a dying fish out of water.
