I say because the Cubs will still have Byrd, Soriano and other players and they will still help. Pinella and Hendry will be gone. Younger players will be up and a year or so under there belt.

i said 2014 (i was debating 2013). gives time for some younger guys to mature a little. assuming we resign byrd, we still have fonzie, dempster, soto, etc as veterans then have a good look looking group in younger guys like cashner, castro, jackson, colvin, ...

Yea, that core really isn't anything compared to

Jennings/Hellickson/Davis/Moore/Brignac/Beckham/Longo/rodriguez/upton/price/
or
montero/romine/mcallister/cervelli/hughes/chamberlain/cano
or
mauer/young/span/liriano/slowey/hicks/ramos/gibson/sano/valencia
or
loney/dewitt/kemp/kershaw/billingsley/ely/broxton/gordon/withrow

that's a pretty weak core the cubs have if you ask me.

Most of the players you listedwill have past their peaks by the time the decade is over. And the Cubs will have more to core in the coming years. Jackson/the other Jackson/Lee/Vitters (assuming he starts hitting again)/Burke/even Samardzija I guess (he has a 2.16 going in Iowa, and started a game or two ago).

And you can add Atkins now to the majors.

*yawn*

anyone can list all of their young players, but what matters is the talent. come on, these players don't make anybody go crazy over them, except jackson. and notive how I said there's really nothing to suggest success anytime soon. , not a decade.

Im 60 and they havent won a thing in my lifetime. What makes anyone think thats gonna change? Here's a tip to the Lemmings that flock into that tired old ballpark. All these years they change managers, owners, players, coaches, front office people, venders...you name it, they've changed it. What's the only constant in this incredible stretch of ineptness? Its the ballpark....dump Wrigley and you just might see some daylight.
