I attempted to pose this question to both KC Johnson and Sam Smith, hoping they would address it in their mail bags:

How does Omer Asik stack up to the following international prospects in the 2011 draft? For example, if Omer were to enter the 2011 draft right now, where would he be drafted in comparson to Enes Kanter, Jonas Valanciunas, Jan Vesely, Donatas Motiejunas, Bismack Biyombo, Nikola Mirotic?

I did not get a response from KC, Sam Smith bluntly said he had no idea because he's never seen those other guys play. So I'm gonna throw this out to the forum. What do you guys think, who does Omer get drafted ahead of in this class? I'm talking about the Omer that just completed this rookie season (dominant defensive Center with questionable offensive game).

That's what I would have said. I don't know how Asik is compared to Jonas, Mirotic, etc.

I would guess late first round though. He's always had the defense, but his offense is still average, he still can't shoot free throws and he still needs to get stronger.

I would guess 14-18 range.Houston, Philidelphia, and New York probably would have drafted him.

^ Not even close. I'd guess late first round, early second round.

We know what Asik is now, but we don't know how the other players will adapt to the NBA. I think Asik would go later than he did in this draft, just because of all the hype given to the international players this go-round, not because he is the lesser player.

Knicks wouldn't draft Omer. They're an offensive team and Asik is an offensive liability.
