I'm thinking about a move. I'm not considering all of these cities and threw a few in just for fun. I hate the cold. I'm single with no kids. My professional background is tech and finance-related.

b. Nashville
c. Boulder
d. Denver
e. San Francisco/Bay Area
f. Chicago
g. Asheville

No piercings. Not excessively tattooed. Straight. No crazy hair.

That crazy, huh?

I have a buddy that really like Austin, TX. It sounds like a lot of fun but he doesn't really want to settle down there.

Am I this buddy you speak of?

Yeah, it's nice, but I'm not ready to put down roots anywhere yet. The traffic is some of the worst in the country as well. The city is growing by hundreds every day.

Hilarious if you actually grew up in Cincy. But no, I guess Austin is just awesome compared to living in Chicago for him. Don't move to Chicago. If I was in your shoes I'd find a good job and go to San Francisco or go hang out in Nashville.

Yep. No way to Chicago. Nashville is probably the front runner. It's somewhat Austin-like (good music scene, weather, and outdoor activities/parks) minus the congestion and closer to the folks back in IL.

Easy....Los Angeles basin(Orange County, etc.). I have no idea why anyone would want to live anywhere else. You can go to the beach and surf and to the mountains and ski in the same day. Weather is great, women are hot, and there is always something to do. Bishop is awesome and offers some of the best fishing in the state and is only a 3-4 hour drive away.

Stayed in Asheville last summer on a road trip. It is EXACTLY as you describe. Butch lesbians everywhere(not that there's anything wrong with that). Beautiful city though.
