NBA.com: DRAFT 2009

looking at the draft I guess that i'm wondering where Taj gibson ranks in comparison to the other players drafted in his class. I mean there are a few players that would be drafted ahead of gibson based on their potential or based them coming over to the nba, but in terms of what they are today, i would have drafted him around 13- 17 range. This guy can play.

well right now there's only 5 players that i would for sure take ahead of gibson.

griffin, tyreke, curry, jennings, collison

everyone else is pretty much a push in my book

I was hoping the Bulls picked Gibson where James Johnson was drafted, and DeJuan Blair where Taj was drafted...

1 outta two aint bad.

I was happy w/ the James Johnson pick >.< but really wanted DeJuan Blair where we got Taj. I never saw Gibson really play...and I'm an ACC guy...so..that's why I guess.

I actually wanted DeJuan Blair with our 1st pick...still can't believe he lasted as long as he did.

Jennings is an over rated chucker and Collison is struggling this year, so I'd only have the first three clearly ahead right now. Taj is in the next group of about a dozen players that you'd choose between depending on positional need and how much you value current production vs potential.

jennings is racking up the assists in milwaukee. i'd take him over flynn and rubio.

i dont know why i thought brandon jennings was averaging 10 assists a game in milwaukee, but i'm clearly wrong. he's shooting an awful percentage, and he's not finding guys for assists.

Jennings was awful last year in terms of shooting percentage too. He's a volume shooter, he'll get his points but he's overrated in my book.

Anyways i wanted Blair where we got Taj as well. The guy has massive potential but Taj has been a pleasant surprise and could end up being the key to a very significant trade. Taj has been setting the tone early in some of these games. When we get Boozer back and if we dont trade Taj, he will be in the running for the 6th man award.

do you guys want to play blair at the center spot or backup pf/c?

i duno blair and taj seems like the sum isn't greater than its parts.

yet somehow it's still better than jj.

I was thinking Tyrus Thomas was a useless wannabe SF. So I figured Taj Gibson would be the starter with Blair mainly coming off the bench to battle opposing team's second units. Blair is mainly a 4, but a very undersized 5. Though, against some line-ups, Blair can definitely get away with playing 5 on defense and the boards.

You look at the guys taken behind Taj and it's a bunch of PGs who wouldn't get playing time here, Blair who pretty much plays a similar role to Taj, and guys who are likely to be as much of a bust as JJ is, so no real harm done in taking a low percentage "unlimited upside potential" pick in JJ. Only guy I really could say I'd prefer right now is Thornton.

Me too. Marcus Thornton exploded a couple of games last year with 37+
