This is sort of related...they won't give the FAs the qualifying offer, including Youk:

The White Sox won't make any qualifying offers to any of their remaining free agents, GM Rick Hahn told reporters (including Jim Margalus of the South Side Sox blog). Kevin Youkilis, A.J. Pierzynski and Brett Myers all weren't expected to receive the $13.3MM qualifying offers, though Hahn told all three players he would be interested in bringing them back to Chicago next season.

It's sort of a foregone conclusion anyway since Youk's option was less than the qualifying offer and I doubt anyone is going to climb all over each other to lose draft picks over those guys even if they are still useful.

I'll believe it when I see it :) although 3rd base is a huge need for the Sox and the FA market is weak at 3rd

I'd take back youkie at the right price. Definitely want Myers back. AJ back too, but price matters

I could live without AJ tbh, but I definitely see a gaping hole at third again so Youk should be priority number one if affordable.

I would like to see Youk stay but I doubt if he will.

If the Sox don't bring back Youk, then they need to at least try & get one via the trade market.

I for one don't want to ever see Brent Morel at 3rd base again.

one big reason for the sox success last year was AJs bat. replacing AJ with Flowers really weakens the lineup

Orlando Hudson is available at a bargain price. Bargain price for a bottom of the barrel player. Haha

I realize that but like my mom always says, "there's gonna be a day when I'm not gonna be here" and we can't rely on A.J. to be that kind of producer year in and year out. After all he is 36 and for all we know what he did last year can be a Joe Mauer-esque fluke. Time to pass the gavel to Tyler and let him develop.
