How is it dumb? Paulie wants to go out better like Rivera did.

Nothing wrong with him coming back. He's good for the clubhouse.

He got 2.5 mil to backup & spot start. Big deal.

It's fucking December.

we don't need sentimental fan favorites on a major decline that take up a spot. we need ball players within a reasonable prime. this is just dumb. if he wants to help "Abreu" hire him as a coach. simple.

Boy I thought he ended well last year. I can't imagine him improving on last year's numbers. This is a real head scratcher.
Does this mean Dunn is getting traded?

Or is this insurance in case Abreu can't make the MLB roster?

No clue on this one

Abreu is a lock as the starting 1st baseman.

You don't spend all that coin for him to be in AAA.

Konerko: “I’m looking forward to coming back in a new role ...

'where I can help the organization and teammates get turned around in the right direction and also do some productive things on the field.'

GM Hahn: Paul will play an important role by collecting at-bats as the DH against certain left-handed pitching ..

.. "and as an incredibly important mentor and leader within our clubhouse.”

..assisting Abreu’s transition into role of primary first baseman, as an option for Robin off the bench in specific game situations ...

Assuming this *is* the game plan, and no at bats are stolen from Abreu....I can live with it. I don't like it, but not much I can do about it.

I'm not so sure Dunn can. He hasn't played more than 5 games in the OF since what...2009?

Yes for five games. He's a lot older now too. Id contact AZ and see if they have an interest

id much rather have Dunn stay since there is no one really offense worthy in this lineup right now. if you are out of it and dunn is still hitting bombs, deal him at the deadline. we have no lefty bats and Hahn wants to add on top of what we have so I highly doubt we see dunn get moved. it would be stupid to do so in the offseason.
