While I understand this perspective, I don't get why people don't see it from the other side. The Sox have a good chance to win now. Why not take the risk to put the team further up on top on a guy who is a proven commodity? Where as keeping these young guys may not lead to anything except having some good young players on an average, non-playoff team. Or worse, having these prospects not pan out at all.
I'd rather have nothing happen and keep the team as it is then adding anyone, but I am not going to worry about it if a trade does happen.
It depends on how highly you regard your prospects, and who youre giving up.
Its only like 70 games until his contract is up.
And its not like we are afrain that Hudson or Viciedo will end up better than Dunn, of course they wont. But they have a lot more low-cost years ahead of them so if they are decent in that range they could be good value/$. So its risky.
Personally, I wouldnt mind seeing EITHER Hudson OR Viciedo plus decent fillers go for Dunn. I would be shaky about both going. And I would rather not trade Morel, Danks, Flowers, or Mitchell.
