who do you want rose to play like? Wade or Paul?

so eh i've been reading a lot of people knocking on rose for being a bad prototypical pg. The only question i can ask is given his natural skill set, athletic abilities and finishing potential, do you want him deferring and setting up plays for other players? Isn't that what we've nagged on and on about for the last year or so? for derrick rose to be aggressive, and not defer to his teammates as often.

i'm not suggesting that rose become a pure sg, and only look for his own shot, but do you really want rose to play like paul? i'd rather have him play like wade, and hope that hinrich can generate enough looks for himself and others.

I would rather he be a point guard who scores...like Chris Paul is...he is not and will not be Dwayne Wade...and none of that is important...long as he plays at a high level...

I don't think Rose will ever have the pure pg skill set of a pg. He doesn't run the offense or create at a high level like Paul does. He is much closer to Wade than Paul.

Thats what is really lacking. Its amazing with a roy and allstar who drives to the basket often can't get calls.

Yes I would rather have Rose play like a Finals MVP Dwayne Wade! And I think Rose is the perfect PG and IMO he can create the perfect mold of dominate playmaker.

Please stop with the prototypical PG, what Jason Kidd? I don't want him to be like that, I want him to be a scoring threat.

What offense? Rose ran an offense just fine in Memphis, The Bulls and VDN Don't Have an Offense for him to run. I think he is doing fine. When players like Deng just disappear and can't make an 8 foot jumpshot after the 1st 2 quarters, we can't blame Rose for not getting more assists or not running the offense.

i still think that if his damn teammates would make shots the way they are supposed to, rose's assist avg would be around 7-8. in addition, if vinny implies some kind of recognizable system, id say his average would be 8-9.

right now he can go either way, but i dont see him getting close to wade or cp. hes right in between, and maybe that might be a better situation.

I see Rose more of an an Isiah Thomas mixed with a Lebron James. Has there ever been a Point Guard who can dunk on a 7 footer? With a cross over like D-Rose?
Sometimes I want the shot clock to have like 6 seconds left on it with the Bulls falling apart on the offense. Cause they just gotta give the ball to Rose and it's a done deal, he crosses the guy over and gets to the basket easily and draws a foul. He runs the floor like Speedy Gonzalez and finishes at the rim like the Tazmanian DeviL!

But to answer your question, I would go with Wade. He's way better than CP3. Wade is a beast, and can make the playoffs with a crappy team and I don't think CP3 can. CP3 can't take over a game like Wade, Wade is a better clutch shooter, a better finisher, and a highlight reel in play. The closest thing we've ever seen to Jordan was Wade in the 2006 NBA Finals. He got injured, but it seems he's back.

some big pg's that come to mind that rose is similar to are baron davis and deron williams. bigger-than-avg pgs that can rebound and absorb contact in the air. b-diddy is one of the few pgs that can and have dunked over centers, and deron has a mean cross-over and some of the trickiest ballhandling in the league.

Do everything to help the team to win - if it turns out to be Wade style, then fine, if it turns out to be CP3 style, then fine as well.

I'd agree. In my ideal world, he'd be able to switch between the two styles depending on what's needed to win. Winning is more important.

Rose is 10x's the athelete either of those two are. B-Diddy & Williams are strong & have a very quick first step, that's what gives them a distinct advantage over most PG's. B-Diddy has dunked on a few centers, like 7 years ago, & D-Will has a killer crossover, all true but let's not kid ourselves, neither of them possess the end to end speed of Rose, nor the 40" vertical. Everyone can try & compare him to whoever they want but fact is there has never been a player at the PG position like Derrick Rose.

I just didn't think the comparison was a good one. I don't see Rose ever being as pure a point as D-Will, Zeke, or Magic are & were. His instincts at the point position are nowhere near that level yet. He will be a better scorer than any of them, I have no doubt about that though.

But put another star next to Rose, like Magic had, & I think we'll see those assist numbers start to rise into the double digits.

well, im not saying rose is JUST LIKE deron and bdiddy, im just pointing out that he is able to take contact the way they can and bully into the paint against smaller guards. there isnt one guard in the league right now that rose can be perfectly compared to, because he takes traits from all kinds of point guards.

his coast to coast speed is top notch. his strength is top notch. his finishing ability is excellent. his midrange J is above average. he can dunk over guys, while also being able to hit floaters from all over the floor. as far as scoring, all he is missing is 3pt range. you cant name one pg in the league that has all of these in one package, but you can compare each trait to a pg who is among the best at that trait.

coast-to-coast like cp. strength like d-will. inside finisher like baron davis. floaters like monta ellis. get what i mean? weve got something special in this kid.
