Replace Gaub with Jeff Beliveau.

At least at some point.

Yes ... that's what I would do. Gaub has done nothing to say he deserves a spot in the 'pen. Epstein is high on Beliveau. To be honest, I would rather have Beliveau over Gaub (but that's unlikely, it seems like Gaub has the inside track).

if we judged every player by his first four appearances i dont think there would be very many good players

Gaub MLB stats:

John Gaub Statistics and History - Baseball-Reference.com

Gaub minors stats:

You can use both as an aggregate. Gaub is basically doing at the minors level what he showed in a few MLB appearances. ERA is okay in the minors, but he's got really bad control. He's basically lefty Carlos Marmol based on the numbers alone. Could still be useful, but with a relief pitcher you pretty much trust the scouts and pitching coaches in saying he doesn't have "it" here.

Yeah ... but it shows he probably won't stay around and Jeff will do better.

Well in that case, Rizzo will never be coming back up because he sucked last year when he got called up. O Chris Carpenter wasnt that great either so lets keep him in the minors. He pitched two damn innings. Give it a rest

Carpetner actually looked good and should be a sure in to the 'pen. Gaub may be ok with the Cubs in the majors, but I'd rather have Jeff in the 'pen. Rizzo was pressing too much and he just needs to relax...

Yeah maybe and playing in 2 different leagues doesn't help. I think thye need acustomed to playing in the majors and pitching 2.2 innings does not do that. If he can find the strike zone, then who knows, maybe he'll find success.
