Why is Nathan Peterman on the Bears?

Why couldn't Ryan Poles do better than Nathan Peterman? I have to ask, I have to honestly ask why Peterman has been on the Bears this long. There's absolutely no value to him as a third-string QB. Seriously WTF? If Fields goes down Peterman is the backup.

The entire fan base on this message board knows having Peterman on the roster is a bad idea. Why does Ryan Poles think it's a good idea? Couldn't they find some UDFA to bring in off the street?
