No. He should probably use that time on the field trying to get quicker.
Exactly -- i don't know if he's tried, but he should have stayed another year & hired a quickness/track trainer to gt that 40 down.

Slowness is a pretty fucking crippling weakness for a corner. I don't care how good his ball skills are. Remember when Angelo used a second round pick on Roosevelt Williams in 2002 after he ran like a 4.63 40? That turned out great.
With the Bears pro trainers he can work on his speed - but more so strategies for minimizing the threat.

Worth bringin him into camp, considering his other skills & Fangio's scheme.

He's a good tackler, has some ST use... but ya, not likely to improve speed nor stick; & should've signed with a cover 2 team.

Sherman stumbled a bit on one of his two combine runs. His two runs were were 4.52 and a stumbling 4.60, which, since they average them for the official result, had him at 4.56. The 4.52 is more accurate, considering that he stumbled on the other one and his two pro day 40 runs were both 4.53. There is a huge difference between a 4.52 40 and a 4.64 40, which is what that Glenn kid ran.

If you look back, it's very rare for a corner who consistently runs slower than a 4.55 to have success in the NFL. It's basically impossible for a corner who consistently runs slower than a 4.60 to have success in the NFL.
There's a lot of players that have bad 40's but have good football speed and it's been proven. I don't know much about Glenn and how his football speed is but running a 4.64 40 doesn't mean he can't be a good CB in the NFL. Some CB's can make up for their straight line speed with quickness and good hips and feet to make for good cover abilities. It seems like we got some good names in UDFAency that had good college careers especially the DB's we signed but all of their biggest reasons they went undrafted was their 40 times.

I'm pretty sure that's exactly what it means.

I searched combine results for the past ten years and tried to find someone, anyone, who has been able to stick on an NFL roster as a CB after being unable to run under 4.6 in the 40 yard dash.

I found literally one guy, Leonard Johnson, who made the Bucs roster as an UDFA in 2012 and even started some games in 2013 at CB due to injuries. Then again, I wouldn't exactly he's been a good player for them.

Also, last year, everyone talked about Stanley Jean-Baptiste being the next Richard Sherman even after he ran a 4.61 40 at the combine. The Rams (stupidly) drafted him in the second round. Now everyone's calling him a bust. Shocking.

In other interesting slow corner news, the 2015 Tampa Bay Fighting Lovie Smiths plan to start Johnthan Banks at CB, who ran a 4.59 40 (although he didn't count for my criteria since I limited my search to people who ran over 4.60).

so you think his weaknesses is his best quality? I'm sorry the way you worded that seems wrong.

Yeah, I worded it weirdly.

I meant to say think he is purely a zone CB, and that fits what we are going to do.

Interesting. I guess that is why he went undrafted.

Seems like Bucs like slow CB's.

Baptiste was a Saints pick though, not the Rams.

You're right, my bad, I hope Pace wasn't too heavily involved in that decision because Baptiste looks like a bust.

If he makes the team then I will be worried about our depth at DB. Undrafted FA's always make a nice story, but in the end you rather not have them making your team

Vasher looked pretty frickin' fast when he was spinning around in his creamsicle jersey grabbing kicks out of the air and returning them 100+ yards
